Holiday Wishes
Step One
- Make a post (public, friends-locked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your friends list (or friends of friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
My Wishlist:
1. Read one of my fics and leave me feedback. Fic posted in my journal can be found here. Otherwise, links can be found on my userinfo page (I'm still working on getting it all in one place).
2. Go vote for your fandom of choice at ficfinishing. (Especially if said fandom is CSI:NY or Magnificent Seven.) Then volunteer to be a first reader if you have fandoms already in!
3. Fic in my favorite fandoms. Gen!fic is my crack, but I would love fic of my favorite pairings as well.
4. LJ layout: my blending/maniping skills are minimum and the layout styles usually make me want to tear my hair out. Something fandomy would be awesome, but so would some really cute stock images.
5. Icons from my favorite fandoms.
6. Wallpaper. I'd love a CSI: NY fandom, especially with the spoilery promo pics from "Dead Inside". Or anything else that is the Flack/Angell pairing. My laptop resolution is 1290 X 800.
7. Netflix gift certificate. I have the one at a time unlimited account and it is the perfect plan for the rate I have time to watch stuff at.
8. Something from one of my Amazon wish lists, especially my TV on DVD list or my knitting book list.
9. If you're wanting to give to a charity, may I suggest the American Diabetes Association, Ronald McDonald House or KU Med Center (you can specify the Medical center or school of medicine with your donation)? They're all a little near and dear to my heart.
10. Surprise me. :D
My fandoms are: CSI: NY, Criminal Minds, Numb3rs, Magnificent Seven, Dark is Rising, Harry Potter, and Stargate SG-1. Other shows I like, but am not really involved in the fandom, include: Sentinel, Profiler, Pretender, Eureka, Mentalist and Sanctuary. I'm still undecided about Fringe and 11th hour, but I wouldn't turn down icons. :D My email is zeldaophelia at gmail dot com is you have any questions.
