Dec 25, 2010 00:49

ZeldaQueen: Hey there, folks! It looks like this chapter might be three parts, instead of two, as I had planned. Ah well, that's how it rolls. You can look for the other two to show up tomorrow, maybe. Once this chapter's over, it's over! Oh, and to celebrate, I'm dragging in Link to spork for this!

You know, the last section of the 'dream', where she remembers Cedric's death, COULD have been heartwrenching. Seeing Holly replaying the memory, trying to see it at different angles, trying to change the outcome, but never being able to do so, and feeling utterly helpless. But, since Holly essentially got Cedric killed, and feeling helpless is basically on par for her, everything falls flat.

And my non (fully) human characters have more basic human emotions than this chick. Bleck.

It could have been, just like Twilight could have been a very sweet and moving story. Ultimately, it falls under the same problem, that the Suethor just can't put emotion into her writing.

Link: I’m sorry, we appear to have jumped into a John Steinbeck novel
I love Link...not in a creepy Suethor way, he's just awesome :)

ZeldaQueen: Oh my God, it's Patrick Stewart! He's here to rescue us!!!
YAAAAAAY! Gosh, I wish.

At least Woobie!Tom was hilarious instead of obnoxiously "superior" like Holly is. The dream sequence--is that even what it was?--made no sense at all, though. It didn't seem like a flashback or a dream.

Anyway, Merry Christmas!!

"I love Link...not in a creepy Suethor way, he's just awesome :)"

Link: Thanks...and thank the goddesses. After My Inner Life, Suethors of my fandom creepy me out!

"The dream sequence--is that even what it was?--made no sense at all, though. It didn't seem like a flashback or a dream."

I have no idea what it was supposed to be. I swear, if it turns out that Holly and Riddle are psychically connected or some such nonsense, I will lose it.

And thanks! Merry Christmas! :)

When it was Woobie!Tom, I found myself starting the whaa whaa whaa again: and I swear, it just happens before I even notice myself doing it. The fic's quotes alone broke my brain.

I know what you mean. It's like the Suethor kept whaping us upside the head, going "Do you get it? He was abused! The head of the orphanage was abusive! Did you get it? Did you? Did you?"

This muliercula can take her ridiculous dream sequence and shove it up her . I cannot STAND bad dreams like this - partially why I liked Harry's dreams. They were actually DREAMS. Something about this Sue rubs me the wrong way, more than a Sue usually does I mean.

*gnashes teeth in frustration*

I know. Harry's dreams were symbolic, but in a way that made sense. Like, he was worried about Cho's affections for him being overshadowed by her love for Cedric, so he dreams about her yelling at him for promising the Chocolate Frog cards. He didn't randomly dream the future or stuff he wouldn't know.

"Something about this Sue rubs me the wrong way, more than a Sue usually does I mean."

Maybe it's a combination of her utter uselessness and purity sue persona, mixed with her utter arrogance and bitchy jerk sue side?
