Yes, unfortunately it is. This is mostly shipping issues. There are a lot of people who choose to ignore his good points and figure that he's just a lazy glutton who can't spell "orange" at best and a wifebeater at worst, who is shackling the fantastic goddess Hermione down. Same for Ginny - the later books emphasize how she's pretty and popular and gets a lot of guys after her, so she's turned into an evil slut who cheats on Harry and sleeps around. Mrs. Weasley usually gets it pretty nasty, probably because of the Bellatrix thing (there are a lot of idiots who think Bellatrix is a great feminist role model and thus a sign that Rowling hates liberated women by killing her), though she's usually treated like Ginny's evil partner in crime for brainwashing poor Harry. Fred and George are usually spared.
