- Like I said below, it really annoys me when people say "Harry and Co should have just gotten machine guns and killed Death Eaters that way!" It doesn't annoy me as much as with the LOZ, but still, I'm reading a fantasy with witches and wizards and magic and spells. If I wanted something where Harry and Co shot at each other, I'd read an Urban Fantasy novel. I'm not saying guns don't fit into the universe, just...it annoys me when people think they should have been the go-to thing.
- Similarly, I really don't like it when people think that Harry should have been like the Terminator or something, mercilessly killing people and showing no emotion and having I Read Ahead Syndrome. So yeah, I don't like the idea that Rose Potter should have been the protagonist. ^^;
- The shipping is not the main focus of the series. Harry is trying to protect his friends and family, not angsting over whether or not he'll get to boink Hermione or Tonks or whoever.
- I don't think that there should be guns in the LOZ universe. I just...don't. I have no idea why the notion makes my hackles raise when cameras, trains, and little miner robots don't, but there you have it. I just REALLY don't.
- While I ship Zelda and Link, I think them hooking up in canon is unlikely. Zelda is devoted to running Hyrule, and Link can't settle down once he's started adventuring.
- There is no fourth damned piece of the Triforce. It's called "tri" for a reason!

But there is clearly a middle peice! My OC, Erika Sparkly Desu Rainbow Silverblade Awesomesauce, is the holder of it! It is the Trifoce of Speshulness and has the powers of the other pieces combinded!
I'm more familiar with the theater version than the books, so I'm going to do that version, if that's okay. ^^
- I don't ship Valjean with Fantine. There's the age difference for starters, but I always saw them as being more friends (or at least they would if Fantine had lived).
- It annoys me that the productions have the characters speaking with English accents. They're all French! I know this happens with plenty of productions, but it really hit me when my high school did the adaptation, and the directors were teaching the girl playing Gavroche how to do a Cockney accent. I asked why a French boy would have such an accent, and they just stared at me.
- I don't find Eponine particularly whiny, but I also don't see her as a perfect figure of purity. I felt bad for her because she did want a life with someone who actually cared about her.
- Um... I really don't think Thenardier ever raped his daughter.

Agreed.

Well, if it's an English production, that doesn't bother me. I figure that the characters will sound like whatever nationality the actors are. However, I don't know why Gavroche's lines were written to sound Cockney. That was just weird. (Maybe it's supposed to map to "scruffy yet adorable Artful Dodger type" in English speakers' minds?)

Agreed. And that's not a bad thing to want. I think I felt sorry for her because I could see that Marius was never going to be interested in her the way that she wanted; it was always going to be Cosette.
- Um... I really don't think Thenardier ever raped his daughter.Definitely NOT. I don't see him doing that to his kids. He's a scuzzbag, yes, but

Oh yeah, I'd understand it in that case. XD But we all were American on the east coast. You're probably right, they wanted him to have that child street rat thing going.
"In fact, wasn't Eponine kind of pampered until the Thenardiers went broke?"
She was. A few people think he molested her when she was grown up and the family was poorer, though. I think it comes from a line where he tells her "You wait, my girl/ You'll rue this night/ I'll make you scream/ You'll scream alright!" but that still doesn't mean anything besides that he probably would hit her. (Some productions have him slap her before saying it, so that's even more likely).
- I think Will and Elizabeth are awesome, and it annoys me that they are shafted in favor of Jack. I like Jack plenty, don't get me wrong, but Will and Elizabeth did plenty of great things and were dragged into so much shit because of Jack. It's not fair to shove them aside because they aren't Johnny Depp.
- I thought Penelope Cruz's character worked well in On Stranger Tides. She was a good example of a character who was a pirate, but didn't *get* pirates. Really, she reminded me of more sympathetic versions of some POTC Sues.
- On a similar note, I don't think there is that "one woman" for Jack. He loves the Pearl and the ocean. Even with Elizabeth or Angelica, he kept around with them more out of camaraderie and the like than "she is my one true love!"

In my opinion, she didn't work at all, except as a Too Dumb To Live. How can be you be a pirate, not get pirates, and still manage to survive? Elizabeth, who was a lady and used to people playing by the rules, got the hang of it rather quickly, that's why she rocked the place; compared to her Angelica the pirate comes off as painfully naive. It was exasperating, because until a certain point she seemed somewhat capable - she double-crossed Jack and everyone else to reach her goals, so I kept clinging to the hope that she had her own agenda for Blackbeard too. And it turned out that, um... no, she really believed that this slimy, notorious cutthroat, who had all but written "not to be trusted" all over him, genuinely cared for her, because she was, allegedly, his long-lost daughter and nevermind that they never saw much of each other and had no emotional ties whatsoever.
Maybe my reaction was a result of sporking Gethesemane's POTC Sue at the time. ^^; Angelica got the swashbuckling and the like, but she didn't get *pirates*. And it actually nearly got her killed. I got the feeling that Blackbeard kept her around because she would help him out, and Jack kept an eye on her because he felt bad about "corrupting" her, but even Jack just left her ass on an island at the end.
Also, after reading "Ghosts of the Abyss" and watching Jack waaaangst about his wife having his baby, I laughed so hard when Angelica lied to Jack about being pregnant and he just went "O_O Gotta go!"
