ZeldaQueen: What do you mean "finally"? She wasn't even there for a day before she was declaring how awesome the place was, and how much her human school and family and life sucked in comparison to being amongst the vampires!
and come to terms with the vast powers the Vampyre Goddess Nyx has given her.
ZeldaQuen: Again, WHEN DID THEY EVER BOTHER HER? She found out she could summon the elements and basically responded with "Oh, cool. Hey, did Erik just smile at me?" It's hardly like they interfered with her life or that she had to use them routinely or anything!
Just as she finally feels she belongs,
ZeldaQueen: WHEN DID SHE EVER FEEL LIKE SHE NEVER BELONGED? AND NO, APHRODITE'S LAME JABS DON'T COUNT!
the unthinkable happens:
ZeldaQueen: Someone used up the last of the toilet paper and didn't break out a new roll. Scandalous!
human teenagers are being killed, and
ZeldaQueen: No one can be arsed to remember it happened, ten minutes after each news announcement
all evidence points to the House of Night.
ZeldaQueen: You know, for all this build up about how persecuted the vampires are, how the House of Night is under such suspicion, and how hated they are for it all, there really weren't any consequences for this. I mean, it's not like there were angry mobs storming the place, or protesters, or police setting up cameras and monitoring everyone. There were a couple of visits from some very reasonable officers, none of which disturbed the student body at large
While danger stalks the humans from Zoey’s old life,
ZeldaQueen: Which would be who, exactly? The football players? Zoey hardly knew them. By her own admittance, she only knew them because she was dating Heath, who hung around with them. Heath himself? He was only in danger at the very end of the story, and that was because he stumbled into it like the dumbass he is. He was hardly "stalked" by it. Kayla? Not only did she never show up, but Zoey was the one who threatened her. So by all means, if the Cast ladies would like to imply that Zoey is a danger to humans, be my guest.
Also, what's the point of emphasizing that they're from Zoey's "old life"? Ignoring the fact that she may as well have no "old life" for all she thinks about it, it makes it sound like this danger is deliberately targeting Zoey's friends and acquaintances. The only reason people she knows are dying is because she narced them out to Neferet in the last book
she begins to realize that the very powers that make her so unique
ZeldaQueen: - and spawkwy and speshul! *chokes* Oh God, spare me!
might also threaten those she loves.
ZeldaQueen: *steeples her fingers*
Who, exactly, are those threatened loved ones? The only one I can think of is Heath, and as I said, his attack only shows up at the very end of the book.
How, exactly, do her powers play into that, if that's the case? He was kidnapped because he stumbled across the red-eyed ghosts, and they had to kidnap him to keep him quiet. The red-eyed ghosts have no interest in Zoey or her powers. They just kill whoever Neferet gives to them. The only interest Neferet has in Zoey's powers is that she seems to like having someone favored by Nyx as a protege. Again, that doesn't relate to the kidnappings at all! Neferet wasn't ordering the red-eyed ghosts to attack Zoey's old schoolmates to manipulate her, she was doing it to have something to feed to her troops!
So, there we have it. Vague promises of a plot, with nothing delivered. Lovely. Now, time to look at the book as a whole
