[He's been exploring this new Hyrule for the last few days. It was surprising how quickly one could learn to appreciation the lightposts or the power of transportation the darkness had when had had to wander around a new world for a few days.
He's mostly been avoiding people, wanting to know the area before learning of the people. This time, he just happened to spot him. That all too familiar green tunic. He could feel the anger boiling up in him at the thought, until he realized.
This boy didn't look the same. A different Link? It was the first he's seen and he had to admit, he was a bit...
Curious.]
[He appeared from the shadows, not too far from the Link, studying him for a few moments before he spoke.]
Such a look of doubt on your face. How odd for the hero.
[He jumps at the voice, sitting up and then falling back over. No, no -- the voice doesn't sound like a monster's. And if it was a monster, then...
[He sighs and sits up, looking around and finding the figure in black. A child...? No, no one here in an innocent child, no matter how young they may look.]
A look of doubt...
[He sighs again. Doubt. Yes, that's a good word for what he feels right now. He's second-guessing himself and has been ever since he spoke with the other him. No, even before that, but it took meeting his other self to realize that yes, there was another option, and it wasn't as monstrous as it could've been.]
Even heroes doubt sometimes. Some of us, at least...
[He just stares at the stranger for a long moment, trying to figure out if he's really seeing someone or if this is merely another dream. Either way, what difference does it make? No one will believe him about Koholint.]
I doubt... I made a very important decision not long ago, and now I doubt that I've made the right choice.
[ooc: It just hit me that I haven't threaded with you before, so hello~!]
[He's never admitted this before, but what does it matter? This isn't real... He's just having another dream. It's only a matter of time before it all falls apart again.]
I... couldn't leave the island without destroying it...
[He hangs his head; as if that knowledge could make it all better. The laugh doesn't help. What is the difference, really, between himself and his other self?]
It was all just a dream... To leave, I had to wake the dreamer, but with no one to dream it, a dream... can't exist...

And what do you doubt, hero?

And how does a hero, whose supposed to do no wrong, not make the right choice?
((OOC: Hello! I'm new!))

...had to give up something very dear to me in my quest, but now... I wish I hadn't given it up at all.

He steps forward to get a better look at his face.]
And why did you give it up?

I... couldn't leave the island without destroying it...

Destroy an island?
The hero DESTROYED AN ISLAND?!
Oh, this was too rich! He couldn't help, but laugh in response, a wide smile spreading across his face.]
You destroyed an island, eh, mister hero? Tell me, did ya take the whole population with it?

[The smirk grew wider.]
You destroyed an island for yourself. What do you think that says?

[He clenches his fists in the sand.]
I had to wake him up or he'd sleep forever, but... how am I any better than the Nightmares...?

[Shrugs.]
I imagine everyone will say it's all right, because you're the 'hero,' but evil is evil no matter what.

[He feels like he's been stabbed in the heart. What kind of hero is he?]
I destroyed them all... for nothing! What am I supposed to do now? I just want it back! I want Koholint back!

[Steps away, shaking his head like it was a sad thing that it happened. Really, he didn't care, but it made more impact this way.]
Nothing can be done. Once you've done evil, there's no going back on what you did.

You think I don't know that?! I know that better than anyone else!
[He punches at the sand, gritting his teeth. It hurts. It hurts so much, and he doesn't even know how to make it stop.]
If you know so much... then what am I supposed to do?! I can't change what I did, but how can I face the future like this?
