Prisoner of War
[Jewel has, she feels, no right whatever to complain.
Her situation is hardly enviable. She sleeps in a small room off of the palace kitchens, and the combined space is her entire domain. The rest of the court is forbidden from her -- though this is as much for her own safety as anything, she realizes. Occasionally she bribes Anthony the moblin with an apple tart or other sweet, and he walks the corridors to the palace library and returns with something for her to read in leisure hours. She has been effectively reduced from Princess of Hyrule, jewel of her father's realm and arguably governess of Kakariko Village, to a simple scullery maid.
Hardly enviable. Yet she feels unable to complain. She took on the role more or less willingly; she genuinely believed that doing so would protect her friends and her little home from further invasion. She has no idea of Ganon's actual intentions, no notion of the ransom note that was issued to the inn. She foolishly placed her trust in one whom, to be fair, had not previously treated her with malice or deception.
She does what she does for the good of those whom she loves. That it is doing them no good whatsoever has been carefully kept from her.
Her captor comes to the kitchens, now and then, and watches her. This is not overly troubling; he used to do as much when she lived alone. She pays him little mind, other than to converse occasionally, and goes about her work undisturbed. If it grants him some kind of peace of mind to watch her peel and chop the meals he demands, let him do it.
She is peering into her fireplace, and frowning. The chimney seems to be somewhat blocked, in need of cleaning, and she moves the big cauldron in order to attack the sooty buildup. Her broom succeeds in dislodging it, but it comes down in something of a torrent, covering her in a black mess. Annoyed, though satisfied at having solved the problem herself, she builds up the fire again and moves to the basin to clean up before resuming her present task, which is making bread.]
