A Day Like Any Other

[It had been dangerous foolish to go alone. That was what he knew.

That the Shadow of the Water Temple would be there, was something he hadn't. The accursed creature, diligent monster. That was him without goodness.

He had dressed the wounds days, hours ago; routinely pulling off the bandages to check for infection, a draining of the wounds, and a meticulous redressing with clean coverings as required. Holes in clothing had been sewn and carefully sealed, and the scratches in his shield and armor buffed to a smooth state again. Everything that needed it was given the proper attention. Kakariko Village was abundant with supplies now, especially since the crowd living there had slowly grown in number. He made sure to remember to replace whatever he helped himself to from their stores.

When it came time to leave again, he roused his captured and tamed horse from the makeshift animal keep that the town had built. The area was humble, inadequate, but it was the only thing available with the town's recent battle only a week's time past. At the sight of Link, the large gray horse perked up its ears and joined the young man's side very naturally. He stroked the horse's nose, and led him out into the oncoming morning sun.

How ordinary it was. Just three months later in a land that was-but-wasn't home, each day passed like any other would anywhere else. How normal it felt.

Was it wrong to be adjusting like this?

He looked back over his shoulder at the silent, semi-scorched inn. It was too early, and the usual sounds of the conversations of the people in the village were absent from the air.]

[ooc: I so blame this post on the fact that I watched Princess Mononoke earlier. D:]
