[It's another beautiful day in Hyrule. The sky is clear, the weather warm, the lakewater cool. And then there's a gasp as a person surfaces from beneath the water, his long blond hair a curtain over his face. Ah, it's been so long since he could just relax and swim like this.

[There's nothin' else interestin'. C'mon, let's go get your hookshot and explore a bit!]

Mikau, it's dangerous in there. I had to fight my way through before.

[Somethin' starts trouble, we'll kick its ass, simple at that!]

[He doesn't even bother protesting; he just lets Mikau swim towards the shore. Fine, if Mikau wants to find this out the hard way... He walks out of the lake and towards his gear, absently wringing the water from his hair.

[Whoa!

[Sitting beside his gear is Fierce. And the god is watching him.]

Um... hi, Fierce. How long have you been here?

Oh, no, you're not bothering us at all.

[Yes, he is! Now you're gonna sit here and talk to him when we could be explorin' that temple!]

The temple isn't going anywhere, Mikau. We've got time.

[He walks over and sits down next to Fierce, dripping water as he goes. His loose hair is plastered to his neck and shoulders.]

Yeah, the lake is a really nice place. The water's nice, too, cool but not too cold. It's a good day for swimming or wading or even just sitting with your feet in the water.

[Water temple. Callin' my name.]

Mikau... Um, I'm not bothering you, am I? I mean, you were just sitting here until I walked up...

Yeah. And you can float on the lake. You can't float on a waterfall.

[Yeah, he is interruptin' us. We're explorin' that water temple. Link flinches a bit, but it's too late: his body starts digging through his pack. The motion is awkward, as if some external force is making him move; every move seems exaggerated and imprecise.]

Mikau, stop it! [He closes his eyes and reclaims control, and then he shivers and sets his pack down.] You're not interrupting anything, really. Mikau's just being himself.

You remember how? [He grins.] Do you want to now? There's plenty of water.

[C'mon! Let's go!]

He wants to go explore the underwater temple. I'm not sure it's a good idea, because I remember having to fight my way through before. Besides, there's something bad in there. I can't remember what, but it's bad.

He's not listening to me, though. I guess it's up to which one of us gives up first.

No, you won't be bothering me at all. In fact, I wouldn't mind a little company. [He grins.]

Huh? Oh, um... [He looks away.] Most of the time, no. I don't have to fight. But... Mikau's really determined to go in there, and apparently he doesn't want to take no for an answer. He gets like this sometimes.

It's just when he gets really stubborn that this happens, really.

Good! Then let's go.

[Link stands up, brushing the grass off of his damp pants, and heads out into the water. He goes out until he's waist deep and leans back, floating easily on the surface of the cool water.

[C'mon, man... if we can't go explorin', let's at least go swimmin'...]

Are you sure you remember how to float, Fierce? I can show you again if I need to.

Looks like you have. [He laughs.]

[C'mon, man... can't we swim? Floatin' gets borin'.]

Nice, isn't it? You can just lay here and forget the world, really.

You're welcome, but it was nothing, really.

[Oh, come on. Let's go swimmin'. Surely the god can swim, right?

[...oh, wait. If he's anythin' like the one in here, I'm surprised he hasn't already started sinkin'.

[Silence, Zora.]

[Link just sighs a little at that.]

Yeah, it is. Some times are really better off forgotten, but this is as close as I can get.
