A wanderer returns... but none knew he was ever gone.
[He wakes up to the feel of a breeze and the smell of grass and dew. That's a bit odd; he could've sworn he was inside that old farmer's barn. How did he get outside? Did someone decide to walk around while he slept?
[No. Several voices all chorus, each from a different part of his mind. You haven't moved since you fell asleep, adds the stronger voice.
[He sits up and shakes the dew from his hair. May as well see where he is. Perhaps the old man rolled him out of the barn, but then someone would have noticed, surely. He's out on a field, it looks like. Maybe the old man did roll him outside... though he tried his best to find a spot well out of the farmer's way.
[He doesn't see the barn. What is this? The old man isn't that strong. Something isn't right here. He climbs to his feet and takes a better look around... and then he realizes that he knows this skyline. This is... This is Hyrule... What magic is this? He doesn't know. He runs up a nearby hill for a better look around. He can see Castletown in the distance, but... where are the people...?
