The next day came but not a beam of light | Because the blinds were shut

[There was a darkness in the air here. The atmosphere of the Kakariko Graveyard in his time was peaceful, the gentle rest of the dead carried upon sleepy whispers in the wind; once passionate souls laid into soft untroubled slumber. But here.. it felt as though eternal sleep had been interrupted many centuries over ( Read more... )

[The Shadow Temple is just as creepy as he remembers it being, but... there don't seem to be any monsters. Not that he goes in very far -- he doesn't have the Hover Boots, after all, and there aren't any Deku Flowers in Hyrule...

[But there aren't any monsters, which makes him happy. It's kinda silly, considering how few people are here and how many of them are more than capable of taking care of themselves, but he wants to make sure that all of the places he cleared out before -- in the future? -- are still free of monsters.

[He walks out onto the ledge and hops up onto the railing. He remembers when he used to be afraid of the graveyard, but after Ikana, the dead don't terrify him so much anymore. Link just sits there, kicking his feet and rocking back and forth on the railing.

[Uh-oh, he thinks when he sees the man standing by the hole.]

Um, you might want to be careful! You really don't want to fall down there!

[He looked up when he heard the voice. Another- he had to presume -Link. Except this time, for some reason he was a kid.]

There's something down there besides dead bodies, isn't there?

ooc: nice! Good job countering the mood of opening scene and making it more cheerful. =D

Well, um... yes and no. It's mostly just dead bodies... but not all of them seem to recognize that they're dead. And there's this water that tries to suck you soul out of you. It's pretty dangerous.

There's a grave, too, if you go far enough. ["You who do not fear the dead..." No, no. That was the one from Termina. The one from Hyrule was different...]

[ooc: Thanks. :3]

[He looked back down into the pit.

Unsurprisingly, the warning doesn't seem to worry him terribly.]

This entire graveyard feels..... wrong. [It took a moment to find the proper word for it.]

Is this the source of that evil?

[Paying attention... which, he isn't. Not really, anyways.

But he hears the soft song in the wind- in the way that the wind had so often played off of the stones with holes in their centers. Soft, natural melodies.

Were he a wolf, he would have howled the song back in order to summon the skeletal warrior (although, did the new Hyrule work in the same way?). But instead, he just hummed under his breath the vague gist of song that he was able to catch.

Mmm.. that song. Somehow it suited this place; made it all the more unsettling.]

[What does finally catch his attention, is the residual sparkle of purple light as it falls down from the fenced-in area above. The sparkles touch down lightly to the ground, and fade instantly.

Link looked up. What the heck was that?]

Llwyn, if you're stalking me I swear to Din that I'll throw you down into this grave and bury you myself.

[Although he sounds more amused, than angry.]

Maybe.

Who are you?

(ooc: Hi, and welcome to the game! Btw, I LOVE what you and hero_of_smash did here.)

[Jewel almost never entered the graveyard, though she passed it often enough in her comings and goings in Kakariko. She never failed to make a gesture of respect as she passed the gate, to honor the dead therein, but it would take something unusual to draw her attention inward.

Today, she gets that something. As she makes her brief obeisance, she looks across the grounds and sees what she thinks is the Link she knows from her own world, standing before one of the stones and looking troubled. This is enough to get her attention, and she makes her way quietly through the rows of stones.]

Link, what are you...

[As she draws near to his side, she realizes her mistake. This looks like "her" Link -- quite a bit, in fact -- but it's not him.]

Oh, I'm sorry! I mistook you for someone else. The resemblance, especially from a distance, is very strong. I didn't mean to intrude.

[Princess Zelda!

What was she doing here? This was definitely her, but how did she know...]

H-how do you know my name? [He's immediately shocked and unable to think of anything to say. His brief interaction with the kindly, albeit faintly inaccessible monarch had been during the time when he was a wolf.]

[But then he realized what was going on here- she must have been one of the Zelda's from the future. Link's looked faintly crestfallen as the thought passed through his mind.]

[He quickly resumed a more neutral expression, one that he deemed more appropriate for addressing the woman that had helped him so much in Hyrule.]

It's...um. It's fine. [He felt awkward just speaking to her like this outside of the castle.]

Did you, ah... come to pay respects..? [Stupid, stupid. He must have sounded so stupid.]

ooc: Thank ye~ ! =D Also um.. should I call Zelda Jewel..? *wants to follow your narration/stuff correctly*

[She regards him kindly, if somewhat quizzically.]

Not exactly...I actually came in because of having mistaken you for another Link. You are new to this Hyrule, I'm guessing, but you must come from a world like my own -- the Hyrule that was blanketed in Twilight. You look so similar to the Link whom I know.

[Why that should cause him to look crestfallen, she isn't quite sure.]

(ooc: Eventually she'll bring it up, yes. :) There are so many Zeldas that mine uses her childhood nickname, at least with her friends, to help reduce the confusion a little bit.)

I'm ...from Ordon, yeah.

[Had Zelda been here for a long time? Goddesses, this world just continued to make less and less sense.]

I know there are... a lot of 'me' here. That must get confusing for you, Princess.

[He restrained a mildly snarky comment about the multiple-himself(s) for the sake of manners, instead concentrating the energy into settling his hands upon his hips.>]

[He stopped and had an afterthought .....Was it even okay to talk to her this informally? Naive rancher boy is naive and has absolutely no idea how to talk to royalty.

He pulled his hands off his hips again and let them rest a bit stiffly at his sides.]

[Down in the crypt, the evil king is conversing with the ReDead. The conversation is a little one-sided.

He had lit the torches in the anteroom to open the way to the inner crypt, where he had sensed a great hatred emanating from. The ReDead there do not attack him; like all the monsters in Hyrule, they are repulsed by his presence.

Ganondorf rubs his chin for a moment, thinking, before extending his hand to cast a spell to convert them to his service. After a moment, however, he breaks off and curses under his breath. These evil things had been left in the dark so long they are stronger than he expects; it will take some thought and maybe some study in the castle library to find a spell strong enough to control them all together. The one small spell he has prepared is not enough.

The evil king stands in the dark tomb, surrounded by the groaning monsters, and thinks.]

[ooc: Sorry for lateness. And also sorry for not having tagged Link directly. DX]

[Link's thoughts were broken, not by the intrusive deathly presence he anticipated, but by sound. From above ground, he heard the sounds of the door in the frontal part of the mausoleum banging open. A light layer of dust shook off the outdoor headstone from the sheer force of the underground shift.

The Hero of Light and Shadow stared, perplexed, at the darkness below. Although it wasn't so dark anymore. Several pinpricks of dancing light broke the darkness. Someone was down, down in the pits below the graves. It could always be a grave keeper making sure things were neat and tidy.

But then it also could have been the dead coming to rise.

Unsheathing his sword, Link didn't hesitate to descend into the darkness of the tomb. He'd practically been waiting for an excuse.]

ooc: n.n sweet! Ganon! And not to worry~~ your musical appreciation more than makes up for it :'D.

[Hmm... none of the spells he is trying are working on these creatures. Maybe there is something special about this particular grave to make them-

His thoughts are interrupted by a loud sound echoing from the anteroom, like something dropped from a height. Was someone entering behind him?

The old warlord turned slowly around, eyes narrowed. He did not think twice about turning his back on the ReDead -- they would not dare attack him. Ganondorf could hear someone moving forward, through the anteroom, could see the person's shadow on the floor cast by the flickering torches.]

Who are you? [His tone is disinterested and demanding.]

ooc: Horray...!!! :3

[The Hero of Light and Shadow stepped into the basking glow cast by the twin torches. The Ordon sword was drawn and held at arms length.

He'd seen this stranger from afar, and normally wouldn't have put much thought into it.... Save for the fact that his Triforce birthmark had begun to pulse when his eyes had fallen upon the broad, cloak-clad back.

In his world he knew not who Ganondorf was, but this presence still made him feel uneasy. It was different than the deathly shroud that covered the graveyard. This felt.. more alive; no, it was squirming with life.]

My name is Link. [He revealed easily. Looking Ganondorf in the face, his eyes moved beyond him and to the small pools of green liquid that he could see beyond him.]

I was in the graveyard and I heard something down here.. [Hm.] That was you... right?
