Books are my friends.

(ooc: As I mentioned in the chatroom last night, I'm doing a post each for Shad, Jewel, and -- if I can think of one -- Little Zelda. I'm going to be pretty much AWOL for the coming week, because my goddaughter is coming from out of state and I need to get ready to receive her, then to entertain her. [I haven't seen her since May, this is a big ( Read more... )

[There is a person in his seat. A skinny, bookish person who had obviously never gone outside a day in his life.

In Ganondorf's seat.

The King of Evil has lost his chosen spot to a bookworm in argyle socks.]

What the hell do you think you're doing?

[He waits patiently (well, patiently for Ganondorf) for the young man to realize and rectify his mistake.]

[Shad looks up, and does a double take. The visage before him is the largest...person?...he has ever seen in his life. And he does not look happy.]

S-sorry?

[Ganondorf makes a sharp motion with one hand, and all four of Shad's open books magically slap shut, without bookmarks. The one in Shad's hand flips out of reach and shuts as well.]

This is not a public library. [This is Ganondorf's library, dammit.]

I...was given to understand...that is to say, Princess Zelda encouraged me to make use of the resources here.

[Who IS this guy?]

[Oh, you bet she's an over-the-shoulder reader.]

He talks to those stones sometimes.

[He knows that voice, and has a bit of an inner flutter before he looks up. She's in imp form, which he has seen once or twice since their first meeting; it's adorable, in a way. And maybe it's for the best anyhow, because it's a lot easier for Shad to form coherent sentences when he's not looking at her non-cursed form.]

Good day to you, my lady; you startled me.

[He glances at his notes, puzzled.]

Stones -- the Sheikah stones? Who talks to them? Do...do they talk back?

[At this point, he doesn't find much of anything hard to believe.]

[With a flourish:]

I like to make a dramatic entrance.

[She shakes her head.]

The man who used to manage the castle gates, the Sheikah, I think that's what they called him. It's hard to say, though. I've only seen it happen once, and at the very least I can only presume that's what was happening. From the outsider's perspective, it looks like a lot of..."Raawrgble, mrrph!"

[She mimics the strange seizures, clutching her head, mumbling and rocking violently.]

...for the most part. Heeheehee.

(ooc: Sorry I missed your message on AIM last night. I was dead tired.)

[He laughs gently.]

It sounds to me more like he had a violent headache. But who knows? According to the legends [he points at a paragraph in one of the open books], the Sheikah really could communicate with those stones, which would impart bits of useful knowledge. Now, what sort of knowledge this was, there's really no indication; but they are known as gossip stones, so it may have been something of a colloquial, news-of-the-day sort of information. Perhaps, if he was conversing with the stone when you saw him, it told him something not to his liking.

[He gives her a smile, genuinely glad to see her. He couldn't even say exactly why; he just is.]
