[He stares up in shock at Hyrule Castle from the drawbridge outside of Castle Town. Link does not notice right away that the season has changed from autumn to spring, or that the topography of the mountains have shifted, or that Midna has left him. For this moment, his thoughts are with Princess Zelda and the captives of Castle Town.Wait! Has the ( Read more... )

[Well, well. Look who we have here.]

Someone seems to be a bit behind the times.

[This is amusing. It's very amusing, actually, the first sign of entertainment that Midna has seen in quite some time. And here she thought things had managed to come to an entire standstill.]

[W-what. Who is this blue ginger woman suddenly?]

Behind the times...?

[Wait. That voice... that mocking manner...]

(ooc: Midnaaaaaaaa yay~~~)

Yes, o' great Hero.

[Midna lifts a hand, toys with the ends of lighter hair, and her tone is a little condescending. She's not entirely against teasing him and she's very good at it. Always has been. She likely always will be.]

You see, last I remember, we parted ways. Here you are again. One of you, anyway. You don't know who I am at all?

[She chuckles.]

[ooc; Oh, it was required, wasn't it? :>]

[He stares at her for a moment longer, still surprised, and then looks down at his feet to his shadow. His perfectly normal, not-mocking-him shadow. With an audible snapping sound, the pieces click into place.]

Midna? Is that you?

[And, let's have some more gaping, shall we?]

(ooc: Heck yess it is~~)

[For that, he gets a very large and sardonic smile. A sneer for some, genuine and perfectly sincere for others, and then she offers a very succinct nod in his direction.]

Very good.

[Extending a hand, delicate fingertips ruffle the tufts of brown-blond.]

It's been a very long time since I've seen you. You haven't changed at all.

A long time?

[Is she making fun of him again?]

You were just hiding in my shadow not five minutes ago. Why are you so... beautiful I've no words left tall all of a sudden? You've never looked like this before. Did something happen?

[It's strange for him to have to look up at her.]

As I said, you're behind the times. Aren't you interested to know why Twilight isn't hanging over this version of Hyrule? You said it, yourself. I never looked like this before.

[Midna thinks, fingers her chin thoughtfully, and steps past him.]

You must not remember him. Zant. The one who previously sealed you into your wolf form. I was as much a captive as you. The hero I know, however, freed me.

[He is silent for a long few seconds as he tries to process this.]

The hero you know? There's another one?

[Someone faster than Link, and better and stronger too? It's hard not to be a little hurt by this. He had done his best, right? But Midna had said that Link "wasn't exactly what she was looking for" and maybe everyone was just mistaken about him being the Hero.]

So, Zant had turned you into an imp? And this hero helped free everyone? That's good. I'm relieved that everyone is safe.

Don't think you're the only version of yourself. I remember everything that happened. You don't because it hasn't happened for you yet. Follow your own time line and your own Midna will end up looking exactly like me.

[She turns and drapes an arm over one of his shoulders. It's partially reassuring, even as strange as it is for her to do such a thing. She just lays it all out on the table for him, doesn't even offer some tact. Of course he's going to have some issues handling it all.]

You'll be your own Hero. Trust me.

[As confusing as this is, her arm-draping does comfort him, a bit. He's more used to her mocking him and bossing him around, but he has seen this kind of condescending comfort from her before.]

If I haven't become the Hero yet, [slowly, thinking it through] and I still have to save you and everyone... then how do I do that? It's already happened here. I think I'm in the wrong place.

[He gestures at the castle.]
