[He stares up in shock at Hyrule Castle from the drawbridge outside of Castle Town. Link does not notice right away that the season has changed from autumn to spring, or that the topography of the mountains have shifted, or that Midna has left him. For this moment, his thoughts are with Princess Zelda and the captives of Castle Town.Wait! Has the ( Read more... )

[He's surprised to see anyone else around here. He hops down from where he was sitting on one of the walls and waves.]

Curse of Twilight? I'm not sure what you mean. I don't think there's ever been a curse here.

[He tenses at the sound, but relaxes when he sees it isn't a monster from the Field.]

But... the last I knew, the castle and Castle Town were completely covered in Twilight. It might be different now, but... how could you not have seen that huge black cloud? Have you been here at all in the last month?

(ooc: Hey! Thanks!!)

I haven't seen anything like that, and I've been here... [He has to think about that.] Most of a week, at least. A storm blew through a few nights ago, but it's been pretty calm since then.

What kind of Twilight can cover places?

[ooc: You're welcome. :3]

[He frowns, thinking it over. It confuses him that Castle Town could so suddenly be free of shadows, but why look a good thing in the mouth? Still... something doesn't sit right.]

It is like a blanket of darkness. When it covers places where people live, they turn into spirits and only feel fear. The King of Twilight took over the castle and Princess Zelda is his prisoner.

Or she was...

[It's not the same, but it makes him think of the moon, and he shivers a little.]

That's pretty creepy. How do you fight something like that?

[He stops and turns to look up at the castle.] I haven't seen Zelda in a while... Maybe we should go check on her.

The Light Spirits have to be revived. I guess someone already did that here without my help.

[He turns to look at the castle, too, and then looks at the other man again, taking note of his sword.

It's strange, but no one else he spoke to recently talked about fighting the darkness like this stranger did. They were all just frightened and hoping to survive it.]

You know Princess Zelda? Enough to call her by her first name?

Ah, okay. It wasn't me. The last things I freed were the Giants.

[What's a Light Spirit? Are they like fairies? They must be good if they can somehow stop this Twilight.]

Well, um... [He chuckles nervously.] I knew her once. It's been a long time since I talked to her.

Giants? Like, storybook giants?

[Link looks the stranger up and down again, wondering if he's making fun of him.]

And... you were childhood friends with the princess? Really.

[Okay, now he seriously thinks he's being made fun of. :| Cue face in icon.]

Not really? They're the Giants of the Four Directions, the guardians of Termina. Oh, wait, um... [He laughs; that's right.] You're not from Termina, are you?

I wouldn't say friends, I don't think. I helped her save Hyrule several years ago.

[He pulls out the Ocarina of Time and holds it up.] She gave this to me when I left Hyrule. She said it would always keep me safe. She was right, too.

No, I'm not. I'm from Ordon. I've never been to Termina. [He laughs a little.] To be honest, I've never been anywhere. I left Ordon for the first time a few weeks ago.

[Was this man really a great hero from another land? That would explain the gear, the sword and the air of self-assurance.]

You've saved Hyrule before? [He looks at the Ocarina, not recognizing it.] What is it? Why did she give it to you?

Ordon... That's nowhere I've heard of. [Well, nowhere he remembers, but he's pretty sure he's never been there.]

I didn't do it alone, but yeah, I did. This is the Ocarina of Time. I used it in my quest. If you know what song to play, you can control time with it. Or, well, I could in Termina, at least. I'm not sure it works here anymore. I'm not sure why she gave it to me, really. I guess she wants me to keep it safe.

Control time? Really? [He would have taken it as a joke a few weeks ago, but his own recent experiences and the other man's confidence make him mostly believe him. After all, he has a boomerang that can control the wind. Was this really that much different?]

So it's a magic instrument? What does a magical song like that... sound like?

doublehelixhero March 22 2010, 06:17:35 UTC
Yeah. It sounds kind of silly, but it's true.

[He laughs. That's definitely not the reaction he expected, but he doesn't mind. It's nice to not have someone think he's crazy.]

Here, I'll play it for you.

[It's a little weird playing the Song of Time just because, but that's okay. He wants to know if it will work here like it did in Termina.]

[He listens to the Song of Time and, though it doesn't do anything because there aren't any magic blocks to move or Doors of Time to open, he can still feel that there's something supernatural in the notes, or maybe not the notes but the way the man plays them.]

That's amazing... I think you really are telling me the truth. Who are you?

[It must just be something about Termina that lets him play with time like that. Oh, well. The Song always comforts him when he plays it.]

My name's Link. What's yours?

[He blinks.]

How weird! My name's Link too! I wonder if we're related somehow... I mean, we have the same hair and eye color. We could be cousins or something.
