[There is a soft tinkling of bells meandering up and down the streets, accompanied by light footsteps when they get closer. Along one alley they pause, and shifting of boxes can be heard.]

Hmm... can't eat tha-eww did that mold move? I wonder if potion goes bad...

[Straightening, the girl holds up the green vial to the light and shrugs, tucking it away. The satchel and belled anklets are also fruits of today's window shopping, as well as the smudges of dirt on her hands and freckled nose.]

[Oooh, it hears something pretty. Aifor flies down the alley towards the noise, wondering what it is. She's carrying stuff, whoever she is.

[Did she say potion? Master needs potion. Aifor squeaks softly and starts flying towards her, staying close to the buildings but not otherwise trying to hide itself.]

[She has stopped to peer into a shop window, hands pressed against the glass. It looks like mostly paper and books; those she can find in the library.]

[So absorbed in her task, it isn't until she turns around that she catches something flying out of the corner of her eye. With a squeak, she jumps backwards and steps on a can, sending her firmly on her backside.]

H-hey I'm not afraid of you leave me alone!

[It squeaks in surprise at the sudden noise and motion and backs away, wings beating rapidly.]

I not hurt you! I not scary. [Not intentionally, anyway.] I sorry...

[Most violent things in Hyrule prefer shrieking or growling over talking, so she peeks out from the arms she had thrown over her head.]

Really?

[It doesn't sound threatening, it sounds... purple. She unfolds herself and stands for a better look, tilting her head at the odd flying eyeball.]

Are you one of the fairies from Link's water place?

Fairies? Link? [It blinks a couple of times, confused.] I not know them. I is Aifor. I is Master's watcher.

[blue_motormouth]

[She seems to think on that, looking around, up, and down carefully. Her bells jingle as she walks slowly over to the fluttering Aifor and searches once again. Finally, she blinks back at him, glowing blue eyes puzzled.]

But... how can you watch the Master person and me if you've only got one eye? Or you could have two and be huge and mostly invisible like Bongo Bongo I guess but I think you'd sound scarier if you were that big I'm Navi Aifor's a nice name.

[Hesitantly, she holds out her arms to the stuffed creature like others do for her in her normal form.]

[It squeaks happily and carefully lands on one arm, hanging on with its little stiff cloth claws.]

Hi, Navi. You nice. I not watch Master. I look at things so he know what here. I make sure nothing sneak behind. I just has one eye. I not need two. [It sounds happy.] You look for something, too?

[She hadn't noticed his cloth make until he landed on her, and she can't help using her free hand to pat the top of his head. He's soft.]

Oh, you sound like a guide then that's neat! Castle town's pretty empty though so there's not much to look at but I found a nice bag in the shop back there does he need anything like that? Or if you're new I can explain a little do you get heavy when you're wet?

[By the last question she is carefully stroking his side, avoiding touching the eye.]

[It lowers its wings and squeaks happily at that. It likes being petted.]

Guide... I like. So no one here? Master not need bag. He have stuff... somewhere. This not look like where he live. Not like being wet. All heavy and I not fly... I not like.

[She is only too happy to oblige, taking the happy sound as a sign that it would be okay to scratch gently behind his wings. It's nice to be the carrier for once.]

Yeah, the whole place is empty so no people or monsters... well mostly. Kakariko's got people, and I think the ranch last time I checked. You wanna ask the Master person if his stuff's there?

[A little giggle.] Being wet's still better than when I froze solid though. Couldn't even walk!

[That makes it lower its wings and half-close its eye. Just the right spot.]

No people, no monsters... Master safe then. I tell him that. I ask him when I return. He know where stuff is, yeah.

[It shivers a little.] Oooh, that not sound good. That sound cold, really cold. How you get out?

[His reaction causes a delighted smile; she moves to behind the other wing as she starts walking again.]

He should be, does he need to be safe for a reason or just the normal 'that's nice' kinda safe? [To her reasoning, the majority of Hyrule is capable of dishing out a beating to any monsters that pass, and so her curiosity is growing.]

Oh, Link got me out of that one. He's big and tall and's got body heat, but it was really really cold for like days. I'm sure your Master person would help you out if you froze.

[Oooh, it really likes that, closing its eye all the way and squeaking softly.]

Master hurt... I watch for things that hurt him more. [And it has this silly idea that it can find some potion or something all on its own.]

Ooooh. Master help me, I sure, but he not tall like some people I see. He strong though. Lots of magic. He make me, so he keep me okay.

[He'd better watch it acting so cute or he'll end up getting cuddled. She's already bringing him closer to his chest while she pets him.]

Oh, he's hurt? [That certainly changes matters, she goes from curiosity to concern.]

Well, I'm not magic or a healing fairy or anything but Link taught me how to use bandages and stuff and maybe a little potion and the Master person sounds really nice do you think I could try to help or is he shy or scary or something?

[It is nice to talk to someone who never tells her to slow down for once.]

[Aifor wouldn't mind the cuddling, though right now it's more worried about Master.]

Yup, he hurt. He bleeds... He not shy. He just not like asking. I think he need help, though. Not like seeing him hurt.

[Aifor's wings droop a little. It feels bad asking her for help, but Master's hurt.]
