It's not a precisely sunny day; there is sunlight but it's wrestling to make its way through various cloud patterns. *It was a day Shadow Link might be tempted to call good. Little sunlight, so it was more bearable to move during the day and finding he couldn't find a place comfortable to sleep, he decided to wander. Of course he usually stuck near the trees, but when there seemed little breaks in the clouds, he decided to venture across the field. At least it took sunlight a long while to do serious damage even if there was a sudden clearing. He could get to cover again if he needed.

Of course, he didn't expect to spot someone during his sort of risky journey across the field. But he did.*

*Well, he thought he should make it clear he wasn't 'her' shadow.*

[She sits up, appreciating the clarification.]

Hello, Shadow. Yes, I am...and yourself? I don't usually encounter you in the field.

[turntoshadow]

*He shrugs.*

Cloudy day, and I've been around light than I usually was before, so I thought I'd try it.

*Looks her up and down.*

Been a while since I saw you. I went back to that place I told you about before for a while. The Digital World. Forgot about this Hyrule until I came back.

[xnoswordx]

Oh, right.

[She draws her knees up to her chest, nodding. How does one respond to something like that?]

Well. It's nice to see you again. Did you enjoy your time in the other place?

[turntoshadow]

*Shadow Link had to think about it. A lot happened.*

Got closer to Vio, actually found out what my 'partner' was. Cute kid, honestly. Almost got killed playing hero fighting some psycho god's invasion. Then I find out the guy I had trusted had lied to me the whole time and I freaked because since I didn't remember this place, I was still convinced I was evil. It...didn't end so well. I was still fighting with him when I came here. So...mixed bag, I guess.

Oh, my. That sounds rather, um...what's the word I want...overwhelming. Yes, that works. Well, at least now you remember that you're no longer evil, which is very important.

[He's not her Shadow, strictly speaking, but at least he's similar. In this moment, anyway.]

What do you mean when you say you found out what your 'partner' was?

I was back there for months and the place is a madhouse. Sometimes I wonder if the god tree drags in people who are insane deliberately.

He lied to me at first, saying he was evil, to earn my trust. Been putting up an act for as long as I knew him. I should have seen through it, but we had...similar experiences.

*Pauses for several moments.*

I didn't like finding out he lied.

Oh. Oh, my. That sounds dreadfully disturbing.

[She pats his hand, awkwardly.]

I'm sorry it was such an unpleasant experience. Are you glad to be back, then?

*He's silent a few moments before sitting down beside her.*

Hard to say, if I'm glad or not.

*Looks at her, questioning.*

Is it really possible for me to exist as a good person, even being a shadow?

[She hesitates, trying to figure out that right answer.]

I think that it's possible for you to exist as whatever you choose to be, Shadow. My father used to say that we're only limited by our own perceptions. If you really earnestly want to be a good person, even though you're a shadow, then there's no reason that you can't be one.

[turntoshadow]

So...you really think a shadow could be like a person of light?

[xnoswordx]

I think so. I don't know that it would be easy, necessarily, but I think you could do it. And if I can help you in some way I will.

[turntoshadow]

And 'your' Shadow survived doing that?

[xnoswordx]

He did. Quite admirably, in fact. We thought, for a while, that he hadn't, but he was all right in the end.

[Zelda is fond of 'her' Shadow, and it shows.]

And I think you could too, if that's what you want to do. But it has to be your choice, you know.

[turntoshadow]

...in the Digital World...I was afraid trying to become a 'person of light' would make me fade away. I was also worried how Vio would react if I wanted to become a good guy...

*He pauses for several moments.*

I really don't want me to be a bad guy anymore...after dying, I didn't care about anything. Don't want to take over the world or anything like that now that I'm less apathetic too...

[Zelda smiles gently.]

I believe you. And as I said, I will do whatever I can to help you. But you've already taken the most important step...you've acknowledged your own wish to be good. That is, from what I'm given to understand, the hardest part.
