[The fairy boy had told Zelda about his home. She and Sheik had ventured further into the forest in search of the village of the Kokiri. They had passed by little tree houses, all empty; where were the children?
There was one sense of grief in seeing Hyrule on the brink of darkness, and there was another in seeing it deprived of life.
From a safe distance away, one Sheikah regards the Great Deku Tree with a sense of silent awe. Blood red eyes are just barely able to catch a glimpse of tall branches and what looked like an outline of a face. It was from this great being that Link was able to obtain the Emerald... Zelda had thanked him, but not the Deku Tree. She wants to.
But Sheik is a cautious observer, and so for now, they stay back.]
[he doesn't notice the other presence until he hears the soft murmur from the Deku Tree. Dropping his gaze from the canopy he looks around for the other person only to come up empty.
No, wait, was that set of blue suppose to be there?]
[moving from his reclined position up to a sitting one, Link just stares at the figure until his brain finally manages to put a name to the shape]
[there's a myriad of thoughts going through his head, mostly memories, some errant thoughts (and while he never hated this place as much as the others trapped here, for a moment, it felt as if he could sympathize). But there was nothing to prove that this was Sivan and not some other Sheik that had been brought here.
After all, how many Sheiks had he encountered here already?
When the Sheikah walks forward, Link frowns lightly. Something was off...]
It's okay. [he shakes his head] Just thinking... There wasn't much to disrupt.
[not knowing who this Sheik was made coping that much easier]
[moving off of the root he was sitting on, he takes a moment to dust himself off before speaking again] Did you come to keep the Great Deku Tree company as well?
[Sheik draws closer, his steps slow. The shadow wants to take a closer look at the sword on Link's back, but Zelda turns their gaze towards the large tree before them.]
In the past I had heard stories of the Great Deku Tree, but until today, I had never seen him with my own eyes.
Most people never do get a chance to meet with the Deku Tree... not in the same way as with Jabu-Jabu at least. The Kokiri and Deku don't exactly have political conferences with the Royal Family. [pause] Of course, there might be another reason, but he hasn't divulged it to me just yet.
[Sheik tilts his head ever so slightly at that information; it's something he always does whenever he is intrigued or learns something new. Internally, Zelda is a little saddened by it, but she tries to understand why the Kokiri and Deku are that way.]
[blink, then a warm smile. Because, even with how little he remembers, he still knows that-]
It doesn't matter much, in the end. If you desire to speak with him, and have no ill intent, there isn't a reason why he won't listen. [turns to look at the old tree] It seems that company is rare, I'm sure he won't mind holding a conversation with someone who might hear him better.

[No, it isn't quite the same.]

Sheik...

The stranger knew his name - their name.
Rather than slip back into the shadows, Zelda takes a few steps forward. Her shadow makes sure that she says nothing aloud despite her curiosity.]

Memories flash by; they are vague snapshots obscured by fog. I do not. Do you, Princess?
She doesn't, but she won't let that keep her from saying hello.]
Good afternoon. My apologies if I've disrupted you.

Would he hold conference with an exile?
[Exile. Sheik hates the very word.]

Hello...?
[The Great Deku Tree is a large being, but he doesn't feel intimidating in the slightest.]
