Just like every other time, Rebecca leaves her headphones on. She leaves her tank top on, too--tries to, anyway, until Shaun walks his hands up underneath it, easing the cloth up with his wrists. For once, you know, he’d actually like to enjoy this.
No, that’s not what he really means. He’d like to take it slow, rather than the breakneck pace of the trysts Rebecca usually initiates. He’d like to take some time to actually soothe their nerves and maybe relax instead of just satisfying an urge or two.
Rebecca ignores everything in favor of the music, even when his hands run fondly over her breasts, even when his hips start really responding to the way she’s moving on top of him. The bass is heavy in her ears an the heat between them is a slow burn. Why the pace is so mellow today, she’s uncertain--Shaun’s slipped his music into her player, she’ll later find out--but it doesn’t matter. Her own fingers rest on his chest as she lets her head loll forward. Another change, another angle, a little more friction, all in the din of the music, the beat, the rhythm.
Shaun hears her, though, her pants, gasps, the heavy way she sighs when she finds something she likes, and he knows he’s only along for the ride tonight, as almost every other night. It’s about damn time he does something about it. She’s warm, he’s burning up, he wouldn’t mind sharing a little bit more.
“Rebecca? I’m unplugging it now.”
It’s a warning, but not one she can hear.
He edges sideways and rips the little transceiver out of the stereo equipment, and before Rebecca can protest, he has her headphones set aside, her back to the bed, and his lips on her neck. Now, the whole room is filled with the thrum, the bass, everything Rebecca was living through, drowning out the noises they both make as he slips back inside of her and she arches her back and he finally, finally feels that connection he wants.
