Summary: STAY is stuck in the desert. 'Nuff said. Silliness.
Notes: Part one of the follow-up vignettes for J-Gen featuring the group STAY. FUTURE "AU" sort of... More like wishful thinking. Primarily dialog, because I suck. For jackoweskla, who does NOT suck. Timeline will be established at some point.

It was hot. Very, very hot. And sunny. And YamaPi was starting to get very annoyed with Jin, who kept pulling him out of the only shade in sight: the underside of their tour bus.

Subaru fared worse. In the thirty minutes they had been stuck out in the heat, his skin had already begun to darken, and he was declaring Osaka levels of affection to a cactus.

Takki had no desk upon which to headdesk and was thoroughly and illogically frustrated by that fact.

"We should have taken a plane," Jin said, peppering his speech with English words. "We'd be there by now."

"And NOT DYING," Subaru suddenly yelled, abandoning the obviously unresponsive plant.

Takki tried his best not to whine. "This isn't how we planned it, and,"--he gestured to the nearby staff, frantic on their phones--"they're trying to fix it."

"But the juniors got to take a plane," YamaPi chimed, temporarily resisting Jin's tugs. "They're probably already at the casino."

Subaru dove under the bus, narrowly avoiding hitting his head. "What? They got a plane?"

"Two-stop flight from Tokyo."

"And we got a defective bus? So they ARE trying to kill us!"

"Maybe you," Jin responded wryly, hands grappling with YamaPi's ankle. "We're actually good-looking. They like us."

Subaru slithered out from under the bus, shielding his eyes from the sun. "What does that have to do with anything?"

In English, Jin simply answered: "Natural selection."

Subaru stared at Jin. "Nat-- Nash-- Na-- What the hell?"

"It means," Takki explained, as calmly as he could, "that you're theoretically less capable of surviving just because of who you are, and nature is trying to weed you out."

Silence.

Then Jin fell over, holding his shin as he rolled on the hot sand; Subaru scampered back to the cactus.

"I hope we make it in time for the show," Takki muttered, looking to the sky and squinting as if he hoped things had changed somehow. The sun still beat down on them mercilessly.

YamaPi, resigned, sat down beside Jin and fanned himself with the hem of his shirt. "Ah, you're worried about the fans, right?"

Takki nodded. As ambassadors, he thought, they had to always do their best. It was a heavy weight on them. But he smiled back at YamaPi and Jin, and Subaru paused his amorous professions. "People came from all over to see the magic show," Takki said. "If I want to do it, I at least need time to test the harness."

"Oi." Subaru jumped back into the conversation, strolling back toward the bus. "You want to survive this and then let them hang you from a strange ceiling? That's stupid."

Takki searched momentarily for a rebuttal, then simply laughed. "You're stupid!" The whole group fell into giggles.

"Get them to hang part of ABC up," Jin suggested. "They're durable."

"Your sense of humor is way off when you're in America," YamaPi mumbled, nudging his friend.

Jin smirked and looked at him. "Like you were laughing when Kawai did the Kurosagi monomane."

"...Right. Point taken. Totally fair," YamaPi replied. "I'll go tell the staff."

"Wait!" Takki looked quickly at the men beside the bus. "You're just the assistants for this part! I'm the one flying. I'll decide if anyone else is doing the test. It's important."

"Ah, rare," Jin said, barely feigning shock.

"He's really into it now," Subaru added in a stage whisper from beside Jin, where he had finally settled. ("What? The cacti got boring.")

"So who?" YamaPi asked.

Takki turned to them very seriously. "Kawai."

"Because you're a victim, too," Jin deadpanned, and the group dissolved into laughter.

NOTE: Kawai has not done Kurosagi monomane! This is set in the future, so... It's me hoping. 'cause lord, YamaPi. XD

I hope this satisfies some of you. XD There was ALMOST a gila monster, but... I thought I'd be nice.
