That's why he finally claws his way free. Not for humanity (waste), not for his comrades (weak), but because he remembers this: Michael's sneering (broken) smile as he closed the door on Lucifer's Cage.
His plans won't be immediate; he's learned patience: they will be thorough.
He will destroy Hell first, for the crime of holding him captive. Then Earth will burn, for the sake of prophecy. Then, at last, Heaven will burn, for the crime of following Michael.
Lucifer brings no allies to Earth, and the creature Sam Winchester meets in his dreams is fresh from war with angels.
