WHOOT

I just got back sunday night late from a short 4 day weekend vacation in penelton oregon. I had a blast there at the wildhorse grounds near there. The pow wow was awsome. Bought to much while i was there in the booths around the place. All sorts of native american related (mostly) goods and things some regeila related things too for the dancers to buy. This was the first real vacation i've had in many years. It was splendid i realy enjoyed watching the dancers do their thing. I even got to see a pick up ceremony for when an eagle feather gets dropped. Never seen one before then... also its the first time i've actualy been to a pow wow.
The regeila was wonderful there was this one gentleman inthe adult category that had a wonderful bussel (large feather array on the back)that looked like a large multi colored butterfly with green and orange puffs around the sticks the feathers where sticking out from. His regeilia was virey lively as was his dancing quite eye catching and energetic. The majority of his outfit was in a bright sharp toned green with black highlights even his mask and mockisins were. There was also a female fancey dancer that was extremely good hir regeila was well fitting hir personality and style. Kinda hard to describe it so many colors and things on it. Several of the traditional ladies had tons of beautiful bead work on their dresses. All of the fancey male dancers had two bussles one at their waste one on their shoulders. Dang those guys can dance and move... The judges had their jobs cut out for them on that category, especialy the teen one. There where so many good get ups to mention them all i'll have to psot a few when i get the pictures developed. Hopefuly they turn out well :), I didn't have a flash.
In the adult and teen fancey and traditional dance categories there where several excelent dancers. The teen cat. had a lot of dancers so they had to split them for the judges to see them easier so it made the event longer. The last one sat. night they didn't split that category that ended up having 5 songs cuz there were too many good ones to choose from. Usualy each category gets 2 songs unless the judges ask for another. It was an awsome spectacle to whitnesss they all stopped on time each time. And they all danced quite well each in their own way...(similiar ideas but different) one even pulled a splits on the end drum beat of one of the songs. They also asked for extra songs a couple other times too once on the teen category. I think once on the mens traditional too, also well worth the watching.
I bought a couple fur faces one a coyote one a fox of some sort.. I couldn't pass them up one I'll make a face bag out of the other I haven't decided yet. I'll figure something :) I also picked up a pair of nice turkey feathers which i will likely bead to put onto some other project. At one of the novelty style booths i picked up a keychain fox tail which, being bored, I clicked onto the spindel part of my wallet chain. I also bought too much booth food as well. I purchased a few Indian taco's (fry bread pinto beans lettuce tomatoes cheese couple other things) one or two burger tacos (same as above but add hamburger) all of which womnderful even if the bread was slightly greasy. Picked up a buffalo burger sat night for dinner. I so love buffalo meat its so much tastier then the dumb old non-native cow...

I spent too much on fireworks this year hehe i splurged alot this week. BUT, it was quite worth it. I realy needed the good time. I found a new favorite firework a Dancing butterfly. Its a spinner type clyinder that burns gren or blue with two angled wings on them which cause it to take off and hover around a little above the ground. Those ones only got maybe 3-4 feet up (one of em got 5)and float down as they loose power. I modified one by angling the tips of the wings down a little. This caused it to shoot off a second later than the others but quite a bit faster it hoverd around in hte air about 15 feet till it burned out unlike the others i lit. It also spiraled a little above my head, it was wuite awsome to watch. I figured why it did when i was cleanin up the spent fireworks the wings got toasted a little one more than the other causing it to be a lil wobbly before it burned out, that and the light breeze. I'll have to stock up on that one next year >:).
Lit off several awsome fountains this year. One of them lasted qutie a while it had 5 cores that light of several diffent paters of stars mini colored comets and crackles. Surprisinly no screacher at the end, most good fountains have the screechers which i don't care for particularly, too damned loud. Well enough of my boring expository of my 4th activites i hope all you cyber ghosts had a good 4th in your own ways. Till next time....
