mundane details
Finally got my phone in working order. Man that was frustrating not being able to call people esp. since I'm paying for this service... so lame but they have you by the balls you can't even discontinue service since you're in a contract! And then it was as dumb as I just had to change all the numbers in my phonebook so there wasn't a "1" in front of the area code. Had a nice talk with Anne. I guess she's not going to get married after all. Well life has a way of working out one way or the other. Went to SF and visited w/ Stella and Pi on Saturday. Pi was being the usual jaded "I'm too cool" attitude but I know she loves me anyways so I let 'er slide. Not enough time with Stella, we ate some sushi and talked and walked and then it was about 10pm so we had to go back to our respective homes. Went on a date with this girl Jennie last night in Cupertino. We had nice conversation and some pretty decent jalepeno poppers. The surprising thing to me was she paid for dinner, saying "let me pay since I gave you bad directions and you didn't eat much anyway." I was a little blown away I don't know if I've ever had a girl buy me dinner on the first date. I just assumed I'd pay for it, so now I wonder if I took too long or something maybe she felt awkward? It seemed okay though and I don't protest if someone says they want to treat.
Went to Sonora last weekend for the 4-day holiday and left all my toiletries and my cell phone charger there. Ethan is mailing the charger and bringing the rest including my camera back next week. I guess he's skipping a week of school?
Good to hang out with the old crowd and take their money playing poker again haha. After losing so bad new year's day I was doubting my skills. I still doubt them and should really study up a little on real poker playing since I like doing it so much but haven't a round tuit. I started trying to watch individuals' faces but then got distracted since I was drinking I lost focus. Ethan's pretty easy to read but he'll practically tell you what he has. Christina surprised me with a few random bluffs but for some reason she doesn't bluff well because she just bets an average or low amount so it doesn't really scare anyone off. I wish Lisa had stayed in, she's one of the better players but she went head to head with me for about $4 on one round and then Zack wiped their collective cash pile out on another round with me.
Went to Amador w/ Ethan and Casey and had a nice talk with my dad. We chatted about books and life philosophies. I'm glad he's intent on going to Costa Rica still. I was going to travel there but I think I will wait now until he is living there and then visit him for a few months once he's established. I also learned how to play piano with two hands a little bit at the Turner's ranch. Played a lot of pool on their table I was running pretty hot. I think I shot about 20 racks by myself and was making them one after another so that the balls were constantly rolling down the little internal rails to the resevoir at the foot of the table.
