A Snowball in Hell by Christopher Brookmyre
A stand-alone sequel to
A Big Boy Did it and Ran Away![](http://www.assoc-amazon.co.uk/e/ir?t=oakhouse-21&l=as2&o=2&a=0349116849)
and
The Sacred Art of Stealing![](http://www.assoc-amazon.co.uk/e/ir?t=oakhouse-21&l=as2&o=2&a=0349114900)
, this is a classic Brookmyre recipe: a dark comic thriller with a twisty plot, good jokes, smartarse characters and a satirical side-swipe at the dregs of popular culture: when the psychopathic killer begins to off C-list celebrities in ingenious, fitting ways, you almost want to applaud.
It's not quite as readable as some of his earlier novels, possibly because it's overwritten and I think would be better some 60-70 pages shorter. I found myself thinking more than once: "Yes, I get it, now get on with it".
