Uranus

Yesterday was Tracie's 21st birthday. She had both of her parents and all her friends come to work with her to see us. We sang happy birthday to her, and gave her a giant card, signed by everyone, including the cooks who cant really speak much English. I found myself envious of her, not because everyone loves her or anything. Just because she is a happy, intelligent girl who is on her way to doing what she loves. I wrote this on her card:

To Tracie:
Happy 21st!
You are the hardest working person I know.
Thank you for everything you have taught me.
Follow your dreams, and lead us to the stars.

(the I had a drawing of Uranus(hence the title of this entry))

Tracie is going to UT and studying to be an aerospace engineer. I've seen some of her text books and the math is pretty intense stuff. I can tell, by her work ethic, that she will someday be invaluable to manned space flight.

Me, I am hanging on here until I am gone. Right were I belong, just hanging on. Nothing seems to change too much. Even though I've watched you come and go, how was I to know that you'd steal the show? Always something going on out East. Even though, I dont pass this time alone, I cant help but feel lonely.

We'll lie in shadows of the past.
