The last time I was up I got a parking ticket on one of my trips into NYC. They haven't come after me yet, but I figured I should just be done with it.
I went online to pay it. Aside from the cost of the ticket, they charge a $2 convenience fee. WTF is up that? Not only is the city likely saving money on various administrative costs, the fact is online payment likely increases the chance of collecting on various violations (parking, red lights, etc).
Argh. So for my convenience to make the city's life better, I get charged for it? How nice! Btw, I don't mind paying a little extra to cover the cost to perform the credit transaction. That should only be about .25-.50 at most, not $2!
Yeah, yeah. I probably should have just stuck a check in the mail and paid postage. I guess they figure they'll get suckers like me who despite their protests will pay it anyway.
