Lake Poia

We did an easier day today (although fitbit still has me at almost 33 thousand steps and 258 flights of stairs before dinner, so not ENTIRELY easy...). We went from the trailhead near the entrance up a really, really steep beginning of a trail. From there, we went to a campsite by Lake Poia. There were waterfalls and a nice lake. We walked over the stream and up on the side of the hill to look down, and had lunch up there. On the way back, we sent uncle john back down the horrible steep path to get the car, while the rest of us took the longer and much more gradual route. We didn't see many animals, but we did see some grouse and other birds.

The store had blackberry soft serve again! So we had that.

The ranger program was on bears. We learned that the Ptarmigan Pass was closed indefinitely due to there being four huffy bears within about a mile, and that Swiftcurrent had been closed that day due to a bear incident where someone who was off the trail got a bit injured. Huckleberries were probably involved in all cases...
