[action] Ninth Slice

Nov 17, 2010 19:05

[At some point during Moro's fight with Ninetails, Blackbeard can be seen, against all doctor's orders, leaving the clinic and wandering into the forest.  He figured that it had been about five days, so that was good enough.  Blackbeard hadn't heard any news about Moro returning, so he figured that now would be as good of a time as any to collect ( Read more... )

[Robin's fairly new to Luceti, still getting her mind wrapped around things, really. But that black cloud is... different. People in the streets are talking about it, and they don't know what it is.

So, journal tucked safely into a back pocket, she wanders out to investigate.]

[She'll find Blackbeard sitting on the ground and drinking from a flask he had brought with him, the cloud still coming out of his back. He didn't necessarily have to be standing up to do this, which was good for him - it was taking longer than he was expected, and his legs were getting tired from holding up all of that girth.]

[Well, there's something you don't see every day.]

Marshall D. Teach. It seems you were holding back on us, in Mocktown.

Huh? [Well, the Mocktown comment definitely narrows it down. Who would he have seen in Mocktown, though? He was only there a few days!] ...Wait a minute... Yeah, I think I remember ya! You were on Straw Hat's crew, right? How are ya doin'?

((OoC: My apologies for the fail in regards to responding: exams have been killing me, but I've got a two week break between now and my next one, so I'll be able to respond more often.))

I'm flattered to be remembered by one as illustrious as yourself.

[As for how she's doing, it ought to be obvious. She's here. And she figures Blackbeard knows what that implies better than she does. So instead she'll lapse into one of her characteristic silences, watching curiously as he draws the forest into himself.]

Really? I thought all o' you guys came here from before Marineford! I didn't do much ta be called "illustrious" back then! [He doesn't consider beating up Ace worthy of that description - seeing as Ace had about half of the experience that he did, and was physically weaker, he didn't find it much of a challenge.]

So what brings ya out here tonight? [As if it wasn't obvious.]

Word travels quickly, particularly in a world as confined as this.

[It looks like the area to the front of him is a bit less affected, or at least affected a bit more slowly, so Robin makes her way there and settles herself in front of a tree, watching curiously the way his powers draw in the forest surrounding them.

After awhile, Robin can't help but put voice to one aspect of her curiosity.]

What purpose is there, in absorbing trees?

Ain't it obvious? I'm still a pirate, an' I need a ship! I figure that I might as well do my part, so I'm gettin' some materials fer it while I still can!

So whatever you absorb, you can produce at a later time.

[Does she look utterly fascinated? Because she is.]

And living creatures, once they get caught up... [gestures upward, toward the giant black cloud] in there? Are they crushed by the weight of everything else you've absorbed?

I dunno 'bout livin' stuff! I haven't tried that part out yet, so we'll just have ta wait an' see! [He's lying, as many Impel Down guards can testify, but he doesn't want to explain his powers to the enemy.]

[And going by his vague memories of the wanted posters...] So yer their archeologist, huh? What good would that be on a ship?

[Bah, he's over-analyzing her morbid curiosity. Now when she looks at him, she'll see naught but a large mass of squished squirrels.]

I'm an archaeologist by profession. [Here, her smile darkens.] I have made myself useful to pirates in a variety of ways. Not all of which are directly related to my vocation.

Really? Ya must be pretty talented, then!

There's somethin' I've been wonderin', though: what's the story behind all that crap at Enies Lobby? The papers say that yer crew leveled the damn place, but ya ain't strong enough ta do that on yer own! Otherwise, yer captain would've beat Magellan single-handedly!

((OoC: Sorry for taking so long; I've had exams to deal with))

((ooc: no worries! exams are kind of important, eh? ^_^))

[Really, Blackbeard? Really?]

Do you believe everything they say in the papers?

[Cuz she'd really hate to be the one to burst your happy little paper-believing bubble.]

Nah. I just figure that you guys would be the only source that's worth anythin', seein' as the government ain't gonna admit that they screwed up! Look at how they dealt with Crocodile! [He's at least figured out by now that Luffy was likely the person who actually did it - he was reported to be around Alabasta at the time, and people's bounties don't triple overnight without some kind of reason.]

Indeed.

[Trying to beat up Luffy aside, Robin's finding she kinda likes Blackbeard. In that "You aren't half dumb" sort of way. So, a bit of information as a reward.]

The destruction of Enies Lobby was the direct result of a military maneuver called a Buster Call.

[In spite of her coat, she begins to shiver a bit.]

They brought it down upon themselves in an effort to destroy us.

Really? [...] Zehahahahahaha! [Blackbeard's actually clutching his sides - that's probably the funniest thing he's heard since he came here.] Ya mean they're actually stupid enough ta blow up their own damn stronghold ta get at one pirate crew?
