Anyone for saas-ni-machhi?

If I am thinking Poona, I need to think the two restaurants Dorabjee's and King's.  King's on East Street was really hard to find, but my dedicated desire to scoop caramel custard in mouthfuls like a prehistoric maniac drove me up the narrow stairway to a room with low ceiling.  That was it, King's.  In a mad dash, I asked the cash desk attendant about Caramel Custard and his affirmative answer glued a permanent hysteric smile on my lips.  In the next few hours, I started with chicken Farchas, before indulging in Patrani Macchi, Zereshk Pulao and of course Caramel Custard.

The very next day happened to be a Sunday, and I strolled the Dastur Meher Road with its full-fledged Parsee colony.  Now I was a regular shopper at the Dorabjee's departmental store on Modelina Road.

The other Dorabjee's, a Parsee restaurant on Dastur Meher Road was my hunt.  Not exactly, but the Dhansak I would say, was.  And what a Sunday Dhansak it was!  To top it, I had three pieces of Caramel Custard sliced from the bake dish that had a thick coat of soot from previous visits to the oven.  I am missing Parsee food in Bangalore.
