About six years ago, my Dad gave me a ruby ring on Valentine's Day, and I haven't taken it off since. Today during Scene Study I looked down and noticed that the stone had fallen out, and it was one of those instant tears/"oh my god" reactions. I felt so stupid, but the thing had sort of become an extension of my finger at this point...and I have very few items that have that much personal significance.
Aside from that, school has actually been really great so far this semester! Bill took me aside in voice class today and we made a little progress with my belt, which is so so so so great because I can tell he's really going to help me get there eventually. And in Workshop, our new teacher told me that I had really found my "base" which apparently is what makes a successful film and television actor. Good to hear that kind of thing. I also FINALLY settled on a monologue (I'm playing a recovering drug addict, haha!) and I'm starting to work on a Wasserstein scene and a scary Shaw monologue, complete with accent. HOORAY PROGRESS!
And you know this would not be an update without any mention of television...
1. The cowboy who had never been outside of his town of four people on American Idol tonight was too cute! Yay Randy for giving him a chance.
2. Lost desperately needs David Fury back (although 24 is awesome). He wrote all of the good flashbacks! Plus...I don't need another reason, he's just the man. Although this episode was altogether pretty cool, I am SOOOOO disappointed with the Jack sub-plot. His flashbacks are usually among my favorites, but...come on! What if his wife's condition had reversed, Flowers for Algernon style? Or if...I dunno, something a little more unusual? But more Sawyer=GREAT and Sun and Jin=GREAT and here's a thought...in the preview for the next episode, Hurley asks Libby if he knows her from somewhere...she's a psychologist and he was a patient in a psych ward? Innnnteresting...
3. I want to marry Alexis Denisof.
Combat tomorrow!!
