Superbowl XXXVII

Jan 25, 2003 12:51

Well.....yet another Superbowl approaches us.
36 years of awesome competition, where the best of the best battle it out for the chance to be named the world champions of football.

This year, two amazing teams, the Oakland Raiders and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, are going to battle it out in San Diego,CA at Superbowl XXXVII.

So, without further adieu, I present to you my 1st ANNUAL SUPERBOWL ANALYSIS.

OFFENSE:

PASSING GAME:

Raiders: Rich Gannon, quarterback for the Raiders, was the most accurate and had morenumber of passing yards than any other quarterback in the NFL this season. Paired with his awesome recivers, Jerry Rice and James Thrash, this Oakland passing game is the best in years.

Buccaneers: Doug Johnson is a fairly good quarterback, but towards the end of the season, his QB rating has shot up, and the Buccaneers average points per game has gone up also.

ADVANTAGE PASSING GAME: Oakland Raiders

RUNNING GAME:

Raiders: The Raiders have a a well trained and well operated running game, but not among the leagues best.

Buccaneers: The Bucs have an excellent running squad. Mike Alstott is possibly one of the league's best rushers. It is imperative that the Bucs play Alstott at Running Back instead of Fullback, because he has shown much more potential there.

ADVANTAGE RUNNING GAME: Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

OFFENSIVE LINE:

Raiders: Why is Rich Gannon so awesome? Because his offensive line is. They consistently give him plenty of time to set up his throws.

Buccaneers: Doug Johnson(Quarterback,TB) has been sacked very few times. This Tampa bay offensive line too is excellent, providing good cover for Johnson and Alstott when both the passing and running games are utilized.

ADVANTAGE OFFENSIVE LINE: EVEN

ADVANTAGE OFFENSE: OAKLAND RAIDERS. Despite Tampa's good running game, nothing has come in the way of this #1 ranked offense so far.

DEFENSE:

PRIMARY(Defensive Line):

RAIDERS: The Raiders have a very good defensive line that consistently puts pressure on the opposing quaterback. Their line is very effective, especially against the running game.

BUCCANEERS: What can I say? This defensive line is one of the best EVER in the NFL. Lead by Defensive Tackle Warren Sapp, this line leads the league in sacks and gives the quarterback the least amount of time to throw the ball.

ADVANTAGE PRIMARY(Defensive Line): Tampa Bay Buccaneers

SECONDARY(Against the passing game):

Raiders: This raiders secondary is somewhat effective, and at times not at all. I would say just an above average secondary team.

Buccaneers: Bar none, the best in the league. Lead by Ronde Barber, this secondary almost never lets anything get by them. Thats why teams who have played against Tampa Bay averaged their lowest passing yards.

ADVANTAGE SECONDARY: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

ADVANTAGE DEFENSE: TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS. There is a reason why this defense is the best in the NFL.

SPECIAL TEAMS(briefly):

KICKOFF: OAKLAND RAIDERS

FIELD GOALS: TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS

PUNT RETURN COVERAGE: OAKLAND RAIDERS

KICKOFF RETURN COVERAGE: OAKLAND RAIDERS

COACHING:

Raiders: BILL ROMANOWSKI. Good coach, bad attitude.

Buccaneers: JON GRUDGEN. The NFL's youngest head coach. Awesome play caller.

ADVANTAGE COACHING: Tampa bay Buccaneers

WHAT IS GOING TO WIN THIS GAME?: In this classic matchup, the best defense goes against the best offense. But eventually what is going to pull whoever wins up to victory? Its going to be the TAMPA OFFENSE, or the RAIDER DEFENSE, whichever plays better. The weaker side of the each team is going to determine who wins.

MY FAVOR: I hate Warren Sapp even more than Bill Romanowski :D So, I want the Raiders to win--

MY PREDICTION: TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS OVER THE OAKLAND RAIDERS, 24-17

Thank you for listening to me rambling on about football. If you actually read all of what I wrote above, then I congratulations to you.
