Something that really makes me mad, even more than Brazillian Ju-Jitsu, are laws that tell a person what to do. Even if seatbelts save lives, isn't it my life that's on the line? Given that we live in an era where the individual right to do what one wants with one's own body is beginning to weaken, I still don't think it justifies forcing people to wear seatbelts. Also, if I'm in the back seat of a car, the belts simply don't fit. I might be a big guy, but it was also true when I was a big kid. Car manufacturers must, at some point, be held liable for the comfort of such things. If they aren't being used, there's a reason.
I also dislike the dualism in the conservative camp about abortion and welfare. Think about it. If you want to force young women who become pregnant into a life of poverty and misery, shouldn't you at least have the decency to help them out? It also doesn't help when your country's standard of living requires both parents to work full-time. Unfortunately, the US cannot have a moderate leader. The issues have fallen by the way.
Then there are the religious nuts who believe that there is only one God. Well, you can believe that, but you can't force it on someone else. It works the other way around too. No matter what country you're in, you can't make someone believe something, no matter how hard you try, or how many people you kill. That's just the way it is.
That's probably my biggest problem about these "terrorists." They act as if Allah is the one and only, without having the intelligence to realize that a lot of people don't care. The most unfortunate part is that they are intelligent. The merely use religion as an excuse to kill people. They use religion as an excuse to enslave women and children. They use religions as an excuse to imprison their countrymen. I do feel sad for them.
So, next time you feel like going on a tangent about civil rights in this country, remember what many countries do to themselves. Although seatbelts are a minor problem, ignorance isn't.
