Fall on the farm

The agrarian landscape has sunk into my genes.  I often take it for granted that other people see what I see, that my home is their home.  But that is not true.  This is a special time of year to be at home.  I may not have the mountains or the oceans, the hills or the hollers.  But I am able to take in the golden wheat, the burnt umber bean fields ( Read more... )

It's a township hall. Where a rural township got the funds for such a nice building, I don't know! Most of the town halls around here are simple one-room affairs, built in decades long past.

I take it a township hall is the same as a grange hall? Kind of a community meeting place. Much nicer than the ones around here I've seen.
Love those autumn colors.

It is similar, but I think grange halls were specifically dedicated to agriculture groups. Township halls are used for diverse functions, with an eye toward local government meetings and presentations, property tax hearings, voting, etc.

This one is definitely built to last. They must have found a restoration grant or a wealthy benefactor!
