Justified Ancients of MuMu

I managed to track down The KLF's "Chill Out" album last night. I don't think I'd heard it before, but I'd heard about it.

Might I say: All of you need to go out and get this album. It basically started the whole ambient techno movement (yes, I know, the Orb...but let's not forget that Dr. LX Paterson was good friends and a collaborator with Jimmy Cauty a.k.a. Rockman Rock)

I listened to it 3 or 4 times all the way through last night, right after I got it. It's the perfect music for a humid South Texas summer night. It's sort of a concept album, a musical portrait of driving along the Texas/Louisiana coast and listening to the radio at night. Lots of steel guitar, weird atmospherics, as well as Elvis samples, some Mongolian throat singing, and general weirdness. Fantastic, fantastic stuff.

Next up, I gotta get "The History of the JAMs", although I did find "Whitney Joins the JAMs" which has the great sample of Whitney Houston after they say (this is me typing with a Scottish accent) "Meshin Impossible they told us! Shell nevur join the Jahms!" Then the strains of "Ooooohhhh.... I wanna dance with somebody"

"Whitney joins the Jahms!!"

Fuck yeah dude!

I even recently converted a particular, special, beautiful girl in my life to the joys of the KLF. She can't get the Tammy Wynette version of "Justified and Ancient" out of her head! Hahaha! She knows what time is love.

The KLF a.k.a. the Justified Ancients of MuMu a.k.a. the JAMs is one of the greatest acts in music ever. Period. They don't get the props they deserve. Sports teams alone owe them so much.

KLF is gonna rock ya!
