Stuff and more stuff
Hey everyone,
Sorry I haven't been very good at keeping this thing updated or staying in touch. But I want everyone to know that I miss you and can't wait until college starts so I can see everyone again.
Since my last update I went to visit Brian. Since I don't have a car my parents brought me down during their vacation. My dad actually let me drive until we got right outside of the city. Now this might not seem like a big deal to anyone else but I'm 20 and that was the first time I drove on an interstate for more than like 5 minutes in a not very busy area. And since it was Independence Day weekend it was really scary for me but I proved to my dad that he can trust me driving in bad traffic. First on that Friday my parents and I went to the zoo in Louisville because my parents really like zoos and when I was little that's where we went on vacation most of the time. Then we met up with Brian when he got off work and had dinner at the restraunt he works at. My parents were going to go to Churchill Downs to see the horse races on Saturday but they ended up leaving really early in the morning because a light kept flashing on the dashboard. (I would have just ignored it). So instead of going to the races Brian and I went to a really nice mall. Man it would be nice to have a mall like that close to Coldwater. Heck, I would just like to have a mall with a food court in it closer than 2 hours away. Then on Sunday we went to Kentucky Kingdom. That was fun, but it reminded me that I get motion sick real easily, so I didn't feel so good later on. Later we watched fireworks at his friend's house which was great because I love fireworks. Then Brian brought me all the way back to Coldwater and had to drive all the way back on the same day. Sorry, that had to suck. I had fun; it was a good vacation.
So last Friday I went to meet the new Assistant Residence Hall Director in Botswin. Her name is Ziena (short for Nichalaziena I think I spelled that right). I feel sorry for her because that had to have been pretty hard to learn to spell in kindergarten. Some of the other RAs came too. I'm so scared to be an RA next year. All of the other RAs seem to be best friends with each other, and I just kinda feel out of the loop because I don't really know them. I hope it's not like that the whole year though.
I started to get things ready for my hall next year. (I found out that a girl I graduated with who lived in DeHority last year randomly picked Botsford 2 to live on which is the floor that I'm on. That's just a really weird coincidence but at least someone else on my floor will know Coldwater!) Oh back to getting things ready. So I've been making some things for bulletin boards and door decorations and it's a lot harder to think of things than I thought it would be. I can't do much yet though because I haven't gotten the list of people on my floor yet because they still need to match roommates. I should know in a few weeks.
Anyways, if anyone has any ideas I would definetly appreciate them!
Here's some of my ideas so far (a few of which I stole). Tell me what you think.
For the first bulletin boards I'm going to have one with a big map of Indiana and a smaller one of America. Then I'm going to have little flags with each girls name on it so they can stick it where they came from. The other one is a Discover Muncie board and I'm going to put up info on Minnetrista and local restraunts and shops.
I also want one with all the girls baby pictures and have a contest to see who can match the most. Then I wanted to do one with just a bunch of random words on the board that they can rearrange like magnetic poetry. And also one with "You might be a college student if..." and then right down stuff like you eat more mac and cheese than you did when you were 8.
For my first floor program I want to do a mocktail party because I'm tired of ice cream socials since I can't eat it and thats what we did all the time last year.
On a good note I found out that I will not get a roommate next year and that the study lounges won't be used as rooms. That was a relief to learn.
