Yay for being done with finals. Gramatica went very well this morning, my professor even put little pictures on the final for us. hah. Literatura didn´t go as well... I can never remember the diference between Romanticismo, Modernismo, Realismo, Generacion de 98... maybe I know what they are in English and I just can´t learn them in Spanish... I should have thought of that earlier! I feel really bad about my history final. We had two blank pages of paper and were instructed to tell her the history of Spain!! I definitely mixed up dates, eras and kings... there are so many of them - and they all have the same names!!
Now we are all about to tomar una copa (have a drink) with our professors and thank them for all their help this last month. Afterwards Sarah and I are moving into our new apartment and then going out to celebrate her birthday. We are torn between Turkish or Indian food. Turkish food is SO good! We´ve yet to try the Indian cuisine here.
Speaking of food, yesterday Sarah and I went out to a pre-finals studying lunch. For 4.6 Euro we had a HUGE meal at a Chinese restaurant. It included a soda, beer or bottled water, spring roll or soup, a main dish with fried rice and ice cream, pudding or coffee. I wouldn´t say it was delicious, but we were definitely full and happy! Something interesting about Spain is the concept of customer service. Basically, there is none. :) All prices include a service charge so it is not custom to leave a tip. Therefore, waiters and other workers aren´t quite as friendly as they are in the states. For example, Sarah ordered Menu B at the Chinese restaurant. We noticed that she wasn´t receiving what she had asked for but didn´t say anything. When her main plate came it was definitely not what she had ordered. We asked the waitress who proceeded to yell at Sarah exclaiming that she had ordered Menu F. She then took her plate away and came back with the menu. She pointed to B and told Sarah it was what she had ordered and then brought the same plate BACK from the kitchen!!! So my poor Sarah ate her cold dish. We can´t stop giggling about it now... one of those experiences we won´t forget. Something must have been lost in translation. :)
I´m off to the copa. Love to all!
