YAY!! That's wonderful and it really is like a feedback loop, you feel proud and so will she and soon all this hard work you're doing will be a distant memory as everything will just fall into place naturally. The more you begin to understand how dogs work, the harder it gets to watch all that bad behaviour from humans making their dogs conform to human standards, it's frustrating but still informative - you know who to keep away from!
Yep, if you're feeding during training then you do have to watch what you're giving for meals, but that's an ongoing thing throughout their lives, different seasons, different exercise regimes, age - all have an effect on your dog, I have always weighed Button every month all through her life and kept adjusting her food. As the best scales were at the vet's and they're in town it was easy to pop in whenever I liked, it also kept her from getting afraid at the vet's surgery, she became so used to the place. Feeding times and what you feed - dry, wet, processed or fresh meat and bones, will always be a hot topic and everyone has their own opinions on it. I say, do what suits you and your dog and feed what you want to keep your dog healthy and happy.
I think you're right there with Dunbar, I read that one wrong, it's an old saying - never say 'watch what my dog can do' as dogs just have a way of proving you wrong. :))
