Well, I caved and read those 50 pages too! I loved all the descriptiveness, so vivid! And Fitz of the opening was same old annoying Fitz. He really came alive when there was a crisis to deal with. A hunt.

Re: your question bout the timeline. Didn't Fitz give his age here as 47? Do we remember what his age was at the end of the Golden Fool series? Or, maybe we can remember this more easily: Molly's youngest son here is seventeen. How old was he at the end of the last book? A toddler, wasn't he?

I'm reading Fool's Fate right now, and he was 35 at the beginning of this trilogy (though he pretended to be 42). I would guess one or two years go by during this series, so that would make a gap of around ten years.

Timeline discrepancies drive me crazy, but maybe there's a reason for it. Perhaps it's supposed to feel like decades, though that doesn't feel right to me since Fitz just spelled out to himself that it's been "almost 10 years" since he last saw the Fool.

I hope you're enjoying reading the Fitz/Fool interaction in Fool's Fate for the first time! I'm looking forward to your take on the ending.

I don't think it's caving - it's efficiently bringing a couple of chapters forward to the weekend! I'm quite jealous of the people who commented to the FB post to say their bookstore is already stocking it, or their pre-ordered copy has already arrived in the mail.

As isiscolo says below, Fitz was 35 in Fool's Errand, so I don't see how "decades" could possibly be right. Maybe it's supposed to feel like decades, even though it's really only one.

I'll have to check Molly's youngest's age in FF, but I don't really want to know if that doesn't add up either!

I keep looking at the date in the corner of my computer screen. Is it the 12th/3th? No, still the 10th!

I've pre-ordered for the Kindle, and, alas, I know from experience that it will show up On The Day, and not a second sooner *sigh* The good thing is, I've done as much pre-packing as I can for my move on the 21st, so there's ABSOLUTELY NO REASON why I just can't settle down and read it through. And then read it again.

*runs to check "Manage My Kindle", hoping to be proven wrong*

Does "On The Day" mean 12:01am? Start of business on the east coast? Some random time during the day?

It could hardly be a worse time for me. This is the week that annual reporting and auditing collides with monthly management reporting and both collide with urgent weed spraying and firebreak clearing. Probably my single busiest week of my year. It's 8am Sunday and I'm about to start knocking off as much work as I can, in the hopes of clearing some time Tues/Wed/Thurs.

It's depressing to think that this countdown is only going to start again at the end of the week, and then we'll have a whole year to wait. Then another one!

In the past, it's been about 8 am. I need to take my long walk of the week on Tuesday this week, so I won't be home to start reading until 11 or so. Fortunately my husband has dental work scheduled and won't be able to eat anything substantial for dinner, so I won't have to stop and cook! Very convenient, that. *snicker*

Thanks, that's very helpful. 8am your time is 8pm my time.

Maybe you should get up really early and start your walk at 5am...

I've now pre-ordered also, so can save myself the hassle and tension of constant checking on Tuesday! I don't have a Kindle, but it looks like it goes straight to a "cloud reader". How I love the internet!

Wishing you a happy reading experience and I look forward to comparing notes later in the week!

I took advantage of lovely cool weather to get the long walk of the week out of the way this morning, so I can just settle in happily on Tuesday whenever it shows up. *glee*

I'm up to the start of chapter 8, but have interspersed it with quite a bit of work, so haven't failed entirely! I'm now pausing for dinner and a conference call, then will carry on until I decide I have to call it a night.

Happy Hobb Day to you! Wishing you a wonderful day of reading!
