So, I've been playing Dragon Age II. I think my love interest has turned on me yet again. After the horrible way it went down with Alistair, you'd think that at least Hawke could be happy. But nooooo! Why must every person the game hooks you up with suffer from some sort of horrible angst that prevents a happy ending? I know it's dramatic and all, but enough is enough! Can't a gal just save the world, settle down, pop out a few babies, and live a normal life with the person she loves?
And...it can't be a good sign when your love interest changes their outfit to black. I mean, for almost six years he was wearing the same outfit, and suddenly he's like, "EMO...transformation!" and is dressed all somber now.
And I shouldn't take it so personal when they betray me. But, damn it! I always feel so invested in the romance that it feels like such a slap to the cooch when they do it. I'm like, "So, I can be a bitch and not help you with your nefarious schemes, and have you claim I don't love you. Or I can help, destroy the city, and kill innocent people just to prove my affections are true." It's one of those times when I just want to be able to argue with the characters. Just come out and say, "You claim to love me and yet you're putting me in this horrible position. If you really loved meb you wouldn't want this to happen!"
And then he's all, "Just because I love you doesn't mean I'll never hurt you. And I told you up front...*bursts into song* I'm only gonna break your heart."
And I'm like, "No, you dick! You said, 'Being with me will only cause you trouble.' You didn't say, 'When the time is right, I'm going to embark on a villainous plot to undermine the city. I'm just letting you know before we get too involved, because I don't want to hear no whining later about how I turned evil and stuff, because you knew what I was planning.'"
Blugh. DA is like a soap opera. Everyone is sleeping with everyone else, and betraying them later. I should have just slept with Zeveran and Isabella when I had the chance. *angry face*
