Doings a-transpirin'

The latter half of January has been chock full of wall-to-wall work. Catching the flu didn't help my work deadlines much. Other than that, it's been a pretty mellow life.

Home, computers, yadda yadda... )

the shins just played in SF last week! i know this because i had to pick up my housemate (keren) from the concert. she had a great time. she nabbed me a free promo poster of the event which has an interesting image of fighting baby-faced robots. i'm just starting to get into them, too. woo!!

How's your wireless working for streaming video? I've got 802.11b at my house and it's shoddy at best. I've heard 802.11g is fast enough for video streaming, but I've never seen it in action.

I've been hearing so many good things about Mac laptops that I'm considering getting one if I ever get around to buying one for myself. I'm especially taken by those extra wide screens. *drool*

I dunno. For a screen that big, you really don't get THAT many pizels on it.

Now, if the 15-inch would do 1600x1200....I'd be tempted. VERY tempted.

The video streaming over AFP works well at even less than 50% signal (this is from downstairs, base station is upstairs). A few sputters running a 5 minute video full-screen, about as good as watching a full-screen trailer on Apple's website over DSL. At greater than 75% signal, it plays with zero sputters.

I lurv my iBook. I wish the keyboard were more programmer friendly, but a control panel module called uControl does wonders (/me considers editing above post to add plug). The PowerBook was more than I wanted to spend right now since I'm a bit low on funds.
