So I come home from work today, right, and I check the answering machine because my brothers sleep all day and never answer the phone. One was for my mom, and the second was for me. From my school.
First of all, it's summer, okay? I don't want to hear a thing about school until August. (And my book report can rot for all I care.) So when I hear the secretary lady going, "This Taylor High School calling," I was half-tempted to press the delete button before it can even finish. Curiousty got the better of me thought. Maybe they were calling to let us know that summer vacation had been extended another month?
Oh, no. No, they were calling specifically for me and asked that I call them back. To quote the secretary, "This is regarding the fact that Kailey has, of course, been selected."
Well, of course I've been selected!
I have no idea what I've been selected for, as this is apparently not important enough to mention, but of course I've been selected for it. Of-fricking-course!
So yeah, now I'm all worked up. I called back, but no one anwsered, probably because the office closes at four. The tone used doesn't suggest it's something unpleasant, but still, I would a little better if I knew what the hell I'm selected for. A scholarship? An all-paid vacation? Skipping senoir year and going straight to college, because I'm that fricking smart? A student scarifice to please the Gods of Low Funded Education?!
Realistically speaking, it's probably something totally mundane and boring. We'll see.
