My Favourite Couple
This might seem random to people who have me on their friends page, but it's for a competition ^^
Seeing how I have hundreds of doujinshi with this pairing, I suppose my favourite BL pairing must be Gintoki x Hijikata from the doujinshi fandom Gintama, which is based on Hideaki Sorachi's manga.
Whilst Gintama is rich in the variety of pairings available, I like this pairing in particular because it features the main character Gintoki (my favourite) and the man I think suits him best, Hijikata. They work well together for many reasons. Gintoki is silver haired and mainly dresses in white and Hijikata is raven haired dressed in black. Many doujinkas draw them very pretty/sexy, so visually they're a striking couple.
Then there's their personalities - Gintoki's lazy and Hijikata's a workaholic, Gintoki's a funny man and Hijikata's a straight man, Gintoki's often written as a bit of a bully while Hijikata's usually cast as a Tsundere. They've got chemistry in bucketloads! It's no surprise they're the most popular pairing in this fandom.
Now I can't talk about my favourite doujinshi pairing without mentioning my favourite circle. Which is PLUG (the picture above is the cover of one of her doujinshi). The doujinka Nagisa is both a talented artist with her simple but very appealing style and an awesome writer, reproducing so
flawlessly the humour that is a quintessential part of Gintama. It's quite amazing that she can put out a book that has relatively little plot, a fair bit of dialogue and yet is so incredibly entertaining. When it comes to romance, she can get your heart racing as much with a furtive touch or a stolen kiss, that some people need a full blown sex scene to achieve. She's a master of the tease and in my opinion a genius of a doujinka.
