O my ACUS peeps who grow ever nearer to me in time, I have a few questions to get sorted, namely, where shall I sleep, what game shall I run, and what was that third song about getting high that I have forgotten?
For the first, anyone need a roommate? I am nonsnoring and I believe I have a relatively small footprint in terms of stuff scattered about. I'd love to share a room at US with a couple-three people to cut costs.
For the second,
I've been considering what I could run for my group-that-once-played-Buffy in the way of campaigns, so I'm diverted into odd, non-Amber-y channels. Howzabout this for size: The Real Housewives of Nar Shaddaa. In a cross between Intolerable Cruelty and Star Wars, you play trophy wives who live at the peak of one of the most corrupt, degraded, polluted societies in all of galactic history. Once you've gilded all of your droids and then had the best impressionist painters cover them over so as not to be gaudy, what do you do with your time? This is perhaps the only idea I've had for a game that I could run as a oneshot at "normal" cons, where they expect you to use a ruleset created in this milennium... But normal con players, pfeh. There's also the Jedi kids escaping into Amber
game I suggested for Northwest.
The other thing I'm thinking would be in the world of Zelazny's _A Dark Travelling_, parallel Earths branched off history (except with witches and werewolves), reached by a radio-tuning cog-filled device. Probably PCs being a troubleshooting team on our Earth who usually handle intra-Earth conflicts a la small wars in Africa, but sometimes handle larger stuff for their colleagues in parallel universes.
Anyway, I could whip up some sort of Amber noir or western thing; or there's the option of something else in the Volatile universe of uppity Rebmans with airships... Perhaps a closer focus on the world where women ride albatrosses. Cold war spy stuff with Rebmans versus Amber in albatross world! These are possibilities. How does swashbuckling go with cold war spy stuff? Three Musketeers, I'm guessing.
There's also the long-threatened hand puppet Amber, where there are various shards of various personalities trying to pull together to deal with some existential threat... And these shards are played by the players, using hand puppets. Truly a game of grim and intense psychological pressure. Verily.
And of course, there's Firefly. Everyone loves Firefly! I love Firefly!
You pays yer money and you makes with yer voting...
For the third, it will be the Dudesical on Sunday evening. Last Dude I mentioned to
corwin77 that I'd thought of four songs that would be perfect for a potential Dude soundtrack, but I could only remember three, and I'd forgotten the one that wasn't about getting high. Now I've remembered the not-necessarily-high song: Jonathon Coulton's
"Mr. Fancy Pants". PANTS! And of course the other songs are "Smoke Two Joints" and "Because I Got High" (my version is by Afroman, is that the original?)... Ah! Is the last Ringo's "No No Song"? I dunno, I'm not sure even a former Beatle can join the elevated ranks of the three songs I've already listed.
