Drop Spindle

I haven't been posting much over here although I have been knitting lots. At least I have been posting pics on Ravelry.

Among my other projects, I recently bought a Golding Celtic Ring spindle. On Friday I stopped in at the Sow's Ear and bought some Mauch Chunky roving to practice on and by Sunday night I had 2 ply yarn!

You can see the spindle better in this pic:

I am now spinning some teal with black flecks wool from some roving that has been in my stash for probably 9 or more years. I've gotten a lot done while my niece naps.

I also made 2 small spindles from some donut shaped beads - one is Amazonite and the other is teal glass. I used rubber grommets in the holes to fit them onto old paintbrush handles and bent some copper wire for the hooks. They are pretty light weight so I will have to practice a bit more before I attempt that bombyx silk roving that I found in my stash. : )
