My ISP kindly sent me a letter explaining that they were changing their billing system, but that I needn't do anything; all would happen seamlessly behind the scenes. Then they reassuringly sent another letter just to reiterate that message. And another to confirm that they really were going to go ahead with this and I really didn't have to do anything. They were obviously pretty excited about this billing system changing thing, because they sent me a letter at the very cusp of the change to tell me that I didn't have to do anything.
Well, waddayaknow? It turns out that I did have to do something. But they didn't send me a letter to tell me this. They redirected HTTP requests to an explanatory page on their website, but since I sometimes use the internet for things other than the web (no really - although of course I spend 99% of my time online googling for amusing pictures of kittens in baseball caps), it was a while until I worked out was was wrong.
All's well that ends well, anyway.
Shameless self promotion:
The band I muck around in is playing at
Elbow on Friday evening. Out last rehearsal was a bit ropey, so we'll be ace on the night!
