“Shou, you're a really wonderful person.” she stated.
They were sitting on a bench in the park during sunset. She was holding his hand and her head was resting on his shoulder.
“What do you mean?” he asked, a bit puzzled by her sudden flattery.
“Like, how your voice and lyrics are able to inspire so many people.” she clarified.
Shou nodded while she stared at their interlaced hands.
“I could never do anything like that.” she said quietly, a hint of sadness in her voice.
“Nuh-uh~” he protested, removing his hand from hers to wrap it around her shoulder. “I think you're 'cool'. You're good at a lot of thing's I'm not. Like how you―”
She laughed, “You don't have to lie Shou. I'm nowhere near as talented as you and I will never be. I guess that's just the way it is.”
Shou didn't know what to say so just told her: “Well, I love you anyway.”
She smiled and kissed his cheek, “I love you too.”
Shou remembered that day all to vividly. Just as if it had happened yesterday. She never did have good self esteem; Always felt as if she stood in Shou's shadow. She seemed to accept that, though. She only ever asked him for love and he was happy to give her that, plus more. Shou didn't know their time together would pass by so quickly.
He flinched as the sound of a gunshot echoed through his brain. His hands came up to cover his ears. “No...”
It was dark and neither of them could see well. They were walking home the same way they usually did. Everything seemed to be the same as it always had been. And they were holding hands, him and his wife. The street had lights along it, but they were widely spaced so there were dark pitches in between. They had just stepped under a light patch when someone's face appeared on the other side of the light, just barely illuminated. The person had a ski mask over their face and a gun was pointed menacingly at them.
“Shou?” the figure asked.
“Uh... uh... uh, yeah, that's m-me.” he said, tightly gripping her hand.
“Your time's up.”
The gun was quickly cocked before it was fired and Shou landed on the hard cement, hitting his head a bit. His eyes were squeezed shut and he heard footsteps quickly fading away from them.
“Sh..ou.” came a broken voice.
When Shou opened his eyes, coming back to reality, he felt a weight on top of him. He eased the weight off of him and saw it was his wife. They were both covered in blood. but only one of them was actually bleeding.
She tried to speak. “Shou, I―”
His hands were pressing onto the wound, trying to stop the bleeding, but it was futile.
“Help! Someone help!” he called out as the darkness surrounded them. He quickly dialed 119, hoping that it wasn't too late...
Saga was sitting next to him, rubbing his shoulder.
“Hey...” he said quietly.
Shou barely looked up at him.
“They caught the guy that did it. They said it's some asshole who says he's jealous of you. He said he meant to shoot you. He said he's sorry.”
Shou just nodded and looked away. He could barely register what Saga was telling him.
“They're looking to give him life in prison. Since... she was pregnant.”
Right. She was pregnant. Just barely so that you could hardly see a bump. The doctor had said it was a girl. His daughter...
They were sitting in the bathtub together as he stroked her stomach. She giggled.
“Shou~ It tickles!” she squealed, squirming a little.
“Sorry...” Shou laughed, moving his hands up to her smooth hair.
“I can't believe we're going to have a baby!” he was elated. They both were. He smiled and kissed that spot she loved right between her ear and neck.
“I love you so much.” he whispered.
“I love you so much more...” she said as she leaned into him.
All his plans... shattered.
A doctor appeared in front of him. There was blood on the end of his lab coat and he looked worried and somber.
“Shou-san.”
Shou's eyes crept upward to meet the man's face before drifting back down to the white tiled floor. Saga's hand slipped off of Shou's shoulder as the doctor spoke.
“She's gone.”
Two words... She's gone. More powerful than three other words... I love you.
The doctor continued, but Shou's ears stopped hearing all the words.
“Too much bleeding... fetus... lack of blood... death... nothing we could do... I'm sorry.”
Shou stood up and walked numbly into her hospital room. No one tried to stop him. Someone had covered her beautiful face with a sheet and the only thing that wasn't covered, presumably by accident, was her hand. The one that bore the ring he'd given her a year ago.
“Shou, it's so big!” she exclaimed staring in awe the large glistening stone. “I can't wear this!”
“Of course you can, you deserve it!” he said, bringing a hand up to her cheek. “You're my wife!”
He didn't touch her, knowing the skin would be cold and lifeless. He only wanted memories of her warmth in his mind. He pinched a section of the sheet and pulled it over her hand. He'd been crying this whole time, but didn't realize it until he spoke to her and his voice cracked like a brittle piece of wood.
“I...” he gasped, “I won't forget you. Ever.”
He brought his hands up to cover his face and spoke from between his slender wrists.
“You always acted like you couldn't change anyone's life, but you changed mine!” he let out a sob.
“You changed mine. And... I won't ever forget you.” He wiped his eyes and tried to stop crying so hard.
“I'll always love you.”
“Shou.”
“Mmm?” he mumbled, half-asleep.
They were laying in bed together, her head resting on his chest.
“I'll always love you.”

This story was kind of depressing and I'm sorry about that. I think it turned out pretty well though. This is first "heavy" fanfic I've written, so comment if you thought it was good. (^_^)
This one is for
