For the first time in many years The Daily Show managed to not amuse me. I have been following the Alexander Litvinenko story pretty closely, and I found this man's picture with the suffering so prominent in his eyes as a backdrop to a grimacing and jesticulating John Stewart macabre and offensive. The Daily Show-offensive? What else is new? I guess if I am going to laugh at others though, I gotta take some hits myself. By the way, Anna Politkovskaya-personal hero.
The local NBC news continues to amaze me. Somehow Pittsburgh news, with it's lack of actual happenings, manages to not be so absolutely pointless and downright inane as the news for a large metropolitan area. In today's news there was a very excited and vapid blond reporter who was bubbling over with happiness over a camera that lets one stretch the picture and thus "lose" 10 pounds. The people she interviewed were understandably cynical about this miracle. I can't help but wonder which infractions she committed to get stuck with this embrassing news story. In fact, it may have been created just to fuck with her.
The area of the city where I live has acquired their own CMU graduate, or as the daily dubbed him, "The Center City Fondler". He licks your toes at gun point. Joel, have you moved to Philly?
