These novelties
of collarbones and ears
are sweet flowers
begging to bloom
serene curved petals
infinite fractal designs
for my fingers
to trace and shape
their soft surface
into impossible figures,
unusual optical illusions
filled with colors God invented
just for your spectrum.
I follow them
as an endless staircase, to stars
and invisible satellites
I've only seen

Each vibrant hue and passive shade of your skin is poisonous,
slowing down every muscle,
draining all of my strength
until the frame too heavy
to carry in hands.
Yet, I'll squeeze
every last drop of the scent
circling your veins
into my hands
and rewrite the script
the world has
pinned to your slanted heart,
mend your garden
eroded by former storms,
and
build in place
my own
Jacob's Ladder
leaning towards
your most precious possession:
