How irritating. This device shocked me.
It's much like Skinner's theory of operant conditioning; in order to condition the populous into using this device, an electric shock is used if one goes too long without posting. It's a form of positive punishment. Likewise, it's avoidance learning; making a post results in no shock.
I'm not surprised a group of scientists would use such conditioning techniques.
