So it's been over a week since Finnish con
Desucon, at which Nobuyuki Fukumoto was one of the guests of honor. Here're a few (sadly low quality) pix I took during his program!
A familiar face appears.
The interview session was two hours long, with a ten minute break after which he drew these portraits before returning to the Q&A. These drawings were handed to visitors cosplaying his related characters.
The interview started with questions about his background (childhood, early influences), then focused on his career, works and personal interests before the audience got to present questions to him too. For the few visitors who didn't understand Finnish or Japanese (myself included), there were - with a delay - English subtitles of the exchange, as seen on the screen in the back. Due to the understandable time constraints that came with the program, some details were sadly lost in the English translation (if anyone filmed the whole ordeal or even has something like a transscript, a link would be much appreciated!)
Later in the afternoon was his autograph session. Not pictured is the long line of people waiting for his signature, or, as most were hoping, a small sketch of the artist. Either the con staff or Fukumoto himself came up with a neat "gamble" for the con visitors to play: Everyone was challenged to throw a pair of dice into a bowl (in the fashion of the chinchiro game in Kaiji season 2), and whoever got two uneven numbers got the "special prize"! The probability of getting two uneven rolls was evidently quite low though, since only very few got lucky.
The man was kept busy until the very end of his autograph session.
Here's a vid of him drawing during the interview session. Thanks to the one who filmed and uploaded it!
