LA LA LA LA LA LA LA

So I lost my ipod. Or at least misplaced it. Which is annoying on some levels and frustrating on others, but mostly not tragic.

But what this means is that I have had the absolute strangest collection of songs going through my head over the past several days, having nothing to do with anything. Some of which are songs I don't know and have heard once only and several weeks ago on trash television. Some of which are songs I know and like and know the words to, but which make no sense at all in any context. Most of which are songs that I haven't heard in a bazillion years and wish that I still didn't. Especially since they run together in peculiar patterns that I find distracting and I insert lyrics that don't belong into them.

For example. Right now, I have bits of pieces of "We Built This City" going through my head because I got an e-mail travelogue from my friend G. who used that as his subject line. But in my head the words are "Marconi plays La Bamba, listen to the radio" which I don't think are the actual words, although Marconi *did* have a lot to do with the invention of the radio. But worse still, following the words "listen to the radio" when it should say "Don't you remember", sometimes it does that and sometimes it goes into the doo doo doodoodoodoo of the Chipmunks theme (which someone on the train mentioned in passing for no good reason at all except to talk about stupid theme songs) and sometimes transitions into LALALALALALALALA shout at the end of the song John Jacob Jinglemeyer Smith that has been one of the songs that has been in my head for reasons I couldn't begin to explain, since it was on a record that I haven't heard in fifteen years or more.

On the other hand, other songs that have come into my head from a similar era of records are songs from the Bob McGrath Sing-Along, which was my favorite record right next to Bert and Ernie's Sing-Along, because Bob was my absolute favorite of the Sesame Street grown-ups.

Nevertheless. I just have to say that this particular music track in my head must be stopped. Before I explode.
